Now it’s time to interview Rommel “Mao” Angeles. A very humble and quiet guy. If this was high school you would consider Mao as the Nerd of the class. Always quiet and busy with something. but make no mistake this guys is a poker champion.
We believe his biggest score was only 2019.
Winning close to a million pesos on the kick-off of Manila Megstack. He was winning a lot of tourneys until the lockdown began.
Proving he has what it takes, Mao recently finished 3rd place in the Pokerstars Live special tournament Main event. held at Okada Manila.
Yes, the lockdown may have put a halt to his rise but now that quarantine measures are being eased and Poker tournaments are slowly coming back. He is out to prove he is a champion.

How did you start playing poker?
Because of curiosity, because i like playing with tactics ang mind games
What kept you busy during the lockdown?
Trying to find something for a living including playing online poker
You were average stack entering day 2. What was the crucial moment that turn the table around for you?
When I had my pair of QQ had an allin showdown with AK that held during the mid stages of the tournament.
Who was your toughest opponent on day 2
I had them all in may tactics that day so thats why i hadn’t realy had a very tough opponent that day but rather than Lester Edoc which i had a few engagements and took me out in the final 3 players with a setup of runner runner flush for the both of us that left me no choice to backout and stand with my smaller flush”. So i think Lester Edoc was my toughest oppenent that day nice to play with the best players around GG..
You were also playing online during the live tournament, which do you prefer live or online?
i love to play both live and online games
Any advice to new players?
Never lose hope even if you always fail just try to remember all your game mistakes and enjoy the game

Because of the thrill and excitement of the game!
