An interview with Kenzo Mendoza
Publish date: December 8, 2021

Hey, poker playas!

This time its Kenzo Mendoza. We are trying to interview all the side event winners and main event final table players as they are a part of local Philippine history.

They are the few players who have reached the final table on the first full live tournament in Metro Manila 2021.

We admit that we do not know much about Kenzo Mendoza. Although we knew he was one of the big cash game players.

We have seen him on a few occasions. but now we got to see him on live-action.

He was after all played a low key and amassing chip slowly. although he was not the chip leader on day 1A. He did finish day 1A on the top 5 stacks.

Little did we know he would bring that stack and more and go to the final table.

lets go to the interview.

Coffee cups and Q’s

How did you start playing poker?

I started playing poker because of my friends. They played on our friend’s site every day until it got to the point where I liked the game. That is because when I bluffed I showed it and then we laughed so I liked the poker game

Why do you love poker?

I love poker because even you have a bad cards you can still win. 😉

Why hear you play more cash games than tournaments, which do you prefer?

I prefer cash games because cash to cash when we play, you can bluff them anytime because cashable chips are in front of us unlike tournament one just buy in

What kept you busy during the lockdown

Sold steak online and sometimes played poker online but more on family at that time because nothing was really done during the pandemic

How did it felt playing the first live tournament after a long time?

When I found out that there is a live tournament with pokerstars, I knew i wanted to join it. of course it was fun and at the same time excited because it was a long time before a live tournament was available in the Philippines.

Who do you believe what the toughest opponent?

all of them were tough made me suffer so I can’t say anyone in particular. Everyone who participated in that event were good player and if they have a chance they will make you suffer and you will be tortured.

What skill do you think a player should have if he wants to play poker?

Maybe you need a lot of patience and a lot of luck when you don’t have luck you will really have a hard time.

Do you have any poker idols?

Phil Ivey / Tom Dwan / Sam Tricket

Any message to the readers?
