All of us have favorites, but not all of them are in the top 9 in GPI Philippines.
It not that they are not great players, but someone was better.
With poker rooms opening back in Manila. it is only a matter of time before players start hitting the poker felt once again.
Will 2021 be a race to the top?
It could become a good race, after all, there are so many talented Filipino poker players out there who have yet to be in the spotlight.
Do you have any favorites? let us know so we can also look into them.
For today we put the spotlight on the two Alexis Lim.
The two Alexis Lim
For a time, a lot of the recorded wins in GPI and Hendon became confusing for one of the Alexis Lim.
The wins of Alexis Lim was credited to only one person.
It was all fixed later on by adding Shoti to the other Alexis Lim.
In the GPI PH, they are number 34 and 35.
So who are the two Alexis Lim?
Alexis Lim
Alexis Lim made his presence felt in APT Manila at the Manila Pavilion in October 2016.
He won the Main Event of the APT Manila.
But the APT Manila event only had 57 players total. Was he really good?
Yes, he has been cashing a lot of events and it may have taken a year. but it was in Pokerstars Live Manila in 2017 where he cashed big by placing second place in the Manila Megastack 8 Main Event.
2018 was another fruitful year as he once again cashed big as second place in the main event of the Super series 8.

He has consistently cashed in a lot of good events before the pandemic hit. He is also now part of the Metrocard Club Team pro.
A family man and a very private person. Will we see him be active in 2021?
stay tuned!

The other Alexis Lim (Shoti)
The other Alexis Lim hails from Cebu. His first recorded win was 2012.
As he is based in Cebu, his record did not show any big activity in playing in Manila until 2015.
It was the opening of Pokerstars Live Manila that pushed the tournament scene to be more active. Before the entry of Pokerstars, events above 1 million PHP were still rare.
It was in the APPT Manila – Megastack Event held on May 2016 at Pokerstars Live Manila where he bagged his first trophy.
After Pokerstars transferred to Okada Manila. Shoti bagged the Main event trophy by winning the Superseries Main Event in 2019.
Then the pandemic hit.
Shoti remained in Cebu but was active in poker online and even started to stream his game.

You can read more about it by clicking here.
We hope to see him back in the live felt soon, but not until everything is safe.
Stay safe poker playas!
