We are now back and in front of the monitor after the GPC2 Event at Gensan Poker Club and it’s time once again to be back and update players on what is currently happening in the Asian Poker scene.

THE PINK VS THE BLUE
for people looking for some poker action today. The branded poke room in the pink casino is having a PHP 2M GTD Event but at the same time, the Metro is having its weekend special.
The branded poker room in the Pink Casino has a strong pull outside the Philippines. (Giving credit where credit is due). but was always weak in the local market (based on their records of overlays).
While the local king, The Metro Card Club has always enjoyed the support of the local market. This week’s weekend special is really special though as it is a 1 million Guaranteed event.
We definitely would write more on the results later on and what could be the impact to the local market.
putting the spotlight on the good guys
Before we start covering any event, we wanted to write about players that did good quite recently and that are definitely someone that the new generations could follow.
They are players who we can define as people with good characters that players should follow.
John Tech
Metro Team Pro
John Tech has always been private with regard to his private life. Rumour has it he started playing when he was still working at a call center and would go to Metro and play the 10/20 blinds just for fun.
Regardless of how he started, he has always been a very supportive son, father, and brother and definitely a great friend.
His history of playing poker goes back to 2009 and hit a big one by winning the Billionaires poker Club Main event.
He has been making a lot of decent cashes after the pandemic and had a great week during the APPT. Winning and cashing in the multiple events and also placing 4th place in the Main event for him more than 4 million pesos for his effort.
One of the crowd’s favorites and a person with great character. Definitely a poker player that a lot of people look up to.
Archie Mariano

Most people would be intimidated the first time they meet Archie Mariano.
The guy is built like a tank! he looks like he could knock you out with a single punch,
But what we witness from all those years we have known him earned our deepest respect.
Giving way to the elderly if he was ahead on the line. Stern in giving advice and warnings, if you are disrespecting elders and friends.
He is a good friend and never the one to back down if his friends are in trouble.
He recently ran deep in the main event of the APPT finishing 4th and winning more than PHP 1.8 million and we have no shame to say that we were rooting for him.
Archie is one of those poker players that hates crafty or cunning means to win and is very open about playing fair.
This is actually his fifth tournament after the pandemic as he is more involved in the cash game but we hope to see him in the tournament circuit more.
Moving forward
With so many tournaments lined up for this year, we would of course post the champions and their winning soon.
but it is great sometimes to put on the spotlight on players with good character. Champions should not only be measured by the amount they win but by the character they possess.
