Very soon PCA would hit the road again and start covering events. It would be non-stop coverage as 3 events will happen one after the other.
While those events are happening, 2 Metro Manila events will clash with the schedules.
Wait what? Tournament schedules clashed again? While some would argue that it is terrible for the market. Sad to say it is good for the market.
Vietnam, Cambodia, Taiwan, Japan, and Korea.
By now, every other poker player has heard of Vietnam, Cambodia, and Taiwan. That is because after the pandemic those guys suddenly went big. Soon a poker room in Taiwan would open with 55 tables, a poker tv set up and so much more.
While a lot of the poker rooms in Manila depends on big guarantee and low buy-in to attract poker players. Those other countries could offer even bigger guarantees.
Although one may argue that local tournaments are only for the local players. The truth is we need new players both foreign and local to help the market grow.
Big pots and low buy-ins are just not enough anymore.
From the outside looking in
Visayas and Mindanao
We really do not have to be looking outside and just looking inside would tell us where the fault lies.
Quite recently, we were honored to be the guest and cover the Gensan Poker Club. It was only a million peso guarantee. People were asking us why since there was a bigger tournament in Manila.
Guess what, Gensan no matter how backward you may think they are, there were probably less than 1% of the entries that came from Manila. Most of the players were Gensan, and a few were from Cagayan, Davao, and Cebu.
And yet they were able to smash the guarantee! They were able to do something that Manila was slow to do. Create and establish a new market.

While they would be clashing with Manila Market. We predict both Metro Card Club Davao and Voyager Poker Club will Smash their guarantees.
We expect some surprise guests from the Manila players to join in on the fun.
Because Manila poker rooms only offer big guarantees. While Davao and Cebu may have a lesser guarantee. They will give so much more.
