It is July 1, 2020, and it is the first day of the second half of 2020.
We have now updated the Rankings of poker players base on the GPI. Due to the pandemic and most event being canceled or postponed. There has not been much movement in the GPI.
But since it is the start of the second half of the year. here are the current updates.
Asia number 1 poker Player – Paul Phua
Malaysian Wei Seng “Paul” Phua (born 1964) is currently the number 1 poker player of Asia. Phua is a casino VIP junket operator who regularly hosts high stakes gambling in Macau.
He only started playing Texas hold ’em until he was in his 40s but has earned more than 19,000,000 USD in poker tournaments.

Known for creating the big games in Macau and later on bringing it to Manila and then the rest of the world. In 2016, he started his own poker strategy website Paul Phua Poker.
He is also the number 1 player in Malaysia.

Philippines
The number 1 player of the Philippines currently is Mike Takayama. The first Filipino born WSOP bracelet winner.
Flo Campomanes is closely at second and also has the reputation of being the first Filipino to win the APPT Main event and the Red Dragon main event.
There are quite some talented players in the Philippines.
Marc Rivera who is currently at 15th place made an impressive run in the PSPC finishing at 3rd place.
Metrocards Club has the most number of Pros in the Philippines.
Currently, the Philippines is in lockdown on Community quarantine which put to a stop all live poker action in Manila. We hope the rooms open soon.

Taiwan
Natural 8 Team hot Ambassador Pete Yen Han Chen “Turbopete” is on a role lately.
Although live poker games are available in Taiwan. “Turbopete” just grab the APT Online Championship Event.
He also is an Asia Player of the Year Title holder for the year 2014.
2016 Asia player of the year Jack En Ching Wu is currently in Second place.
