Tips for Micro tournaments
Publish date: September 15, 2021

Hey, Poker playas!

As the Philippines is still struggling to control the virus. New quarantine measures are being implemented but in reality, outdoor activities are still limited.

Whether you are a live player now wanting to shift online or an online player not doing good.

Here as some tips to help you win.

Micro tournaments are not made equal

It will always depend on the club you are playing. Since poker sites have a more international market. Clubs or poker apps are different.

Each club has its own market. there are clubs we have tested and observed to have a more sensible game than others.

How they set up the structure of the tournament will also spell a huge difference. Watch out for double-rebuys tournaments as the structures are built for a very fast pace action.

The first few levels will always be bad.

The first few levels of a tournament will always be slow. hence the chips you win will also be small.

Although, there are players who would try to induce action. the number of chips you could raise to get a decent caller will still be minimal.

There is that sudden jump that suddenly the big pot you won a few hands ago may just be the blinds now. Remember that online poker tournaments especially the micro are built to be only less than 10 minutes.

However, there is the best time to come in or start taking action. all you have to do is check the structure to find that crucial level or level before the action goes hot.

The Crucial level

As online tournaments, entry-level are stretch, You can enter until level 12, the crucial level is sometimes level 5-8.

This is the level that players do make a good raise and pots are actually becoming juicy. this is also the level at which you must gain chips.

The next levels will be quite fast that you need to stop being passive. being passive at this stage will put you in a very bad position as the level goes up, and the next few levels will definitely be bad and sometimes worst. Definitely, you would need to take risks. which means you need to gain chips so that you can match other players or not bust out.

The great thing about this stage is people will also be extra aggressive.

The Crucial levels are insane

The beauty about the crucial level is that other players are also shifting to aggressive. chances are you could trap someone.

That is why you need to make sure you should be careful on the first few stages as this is the stage you can get paid. if you kept calling early on. Your stack might not be healthy and even when you got someone all-in you could end up with the starting stack.

There are a number of times where we played this type of tournament there would be players raising all-in with crap.

but it is also a level that you can still choose to fold if you wish not to take risks. For example, the blinds may be at 150/300 but the raise is already going at 1k. You can definitely fold as you are still losing only 300. but the pots are going big.

Normally the pots are not at 3,000. there that value there.

The Crucial levels are great

The few levels before the end of registration – the death match.

Most of the time if you are playing a micro tournament and you started from the start. Even if you did not play a hand. you would end up shortstack.

There will definitely be players here who are short-stack and those who have massive chips bullying other players.

Although the raise could still be 2x or 3x. After the flop, a shove will come next.

There are those players who would rather gamble it all rather than add on. Because the truth is there might not be enough chips to fold.

It is going to be a jungle. sadly if you want to survive this jungle. you better be ready to shove it all as well.

Because you might not have enough chips to survive. the structure was built like that.

This is the second to the last-ditch effort of the organizers or sites to push you to rebuy. once the tournament break is over. no more rebuy. (the last-ditch is the add-on. if there is no add-on. then it is the last ditch).

It is like giving you a free sample. Once you taste it. Someone might have pissed you off and you want revenge. but if you coming in with just a rebuy. your short stack.

This is really the point whether you do it or not.

Good luck poker playas!
