The pandemic has affected a lot of people, Poker as well. Only recently was Pokerstars allowed to operate. However, only six players per table are allowed to play.
Pokerstars right now has one of the biggest bad beat jackpots in the Philippines. Currently, at 7,500,000 PHP plus, is it worth risking?
Apart from that, playing six-handed is way different than a full table. Are you prepared?
Here are some tips to help you survive.
1. Six-handed is different from a full ring
Six handed is not the same as you are playing a table that is full of players.
Since six-handed means, only 6 players are on the table. The time it goes around for you to become the big blind again is faster.
Take note as well if there is a bad beat jackpot there is another rake.
Due to the dynamic change, your games must also change.
2. Your starting hand must change.
With fewer players on the table. You have to raise more than what would do in a normal game.
If you work with a chart, you should google the charts on playing 6-max, and you would see the different ranges the pros recommend.
The dynamics of the suggestion are base on percentages. The percentage that your opponent could have a better hand than yours.
3. You should bet more on the flop.
4. Float more often.
5. Spot the fish, Isolate the fish, bet it hard!
Like any other poker game, You must isolate the fish.
They are called fish for a reason, they often times will limp with their cards and would call until the river.
A lot of players will fold more hands than normal. so once a fish limp and raising the pot with a semi-good-hand creates value for you when the flops go in your favor.
7. Practice online
The problem with houses that have a bad beat jackpot. They would prefer opening higher blinds. It still about business.
With the blinds going back faster and the rake eating the pot. (including the bad beat rake).
The pot your earning is considerably lessened.
Hence playing online for practice may be a very good option. By default blinds on an online setting is way faster than live poker. Blinds on online poker are much less.
Practicing online will help you adjust faster.
