Hey, Poker Playas!
it saddens us to hear the passing of a great man and a good personal friend. Atty Jojo Allado, the founder of the PPT.
We were hoping someday to see the rise of the PPT once again. Maybe someday someone would revive it but not just the name but the ideals Atty Jojo Allado stood for.
Sadly, in a world where bingo tournaments are now rampant. there was a need to bring back the PPT.
PPT is different from Metro Cards Club PPT.
For those who don’t know, let us share the story behind the PPT.

Atty Jojo Allado
Atty Jojo allado
Founder of the Philippines Poker Tour – PPT
Atty Jojo Allado started playing poker in 2009 while working for the Department of Justice. Back then it was a game that helped build camaraderie for him until he realize everyone is out to get him on the table.
In his own word “he paid very handsomely for his education”
When he was no longer tied up with his work, he decided to go to Las Vegas and learn from the best.
Coming back from the WSOP, He realize back then that most poker tournaments were Bingo style poker tournaments, the blind were fast and in the end, it was more about luck.
He had an Idea and Believed that Filipinos are great players or have a lot of potential to become great. But only if they actually have a good place to train and hone their skills.
If he can provide such things, Filipinos can become great players and can shine in the biggest tournament in the world.

PPT
Season 1 – 2012 – 2013
10 Legs all across the Philippines. Manila, Cebu, and Davao.
Each with a 1 Million purse, But the Champion will battle it out in the battle of champions and the winner will get to play in the WSOP 2013 Main Event!
But the biggest selling point is the 1 Hour per level. Pattern under the World Series of Poker blind structure. It was to help Filipinos develop their skills.
A real poker structure and not a bingo-style tournament so that Filipinos can understand the difference between what a real poker tournament is.
He had a dream, and in some ways the dream was fullfilled.
In more ways than one
In the Photo is Jav Medina, who has become of the Phillippines’ top players.
Atty Jojo Allado has supported a lot of Poker Players even before PPT.
A lot of the poker heroes you know now were helped by Atty Jojo to push through with their careers.
As we can not mention the other players who he helped. All we can say is that in some way or another he was a Man that was an integral part of the Local Poker community growth.
Not only did he help many players, but he push his ideals and created the PPT. A chance for Filipinos to shine and play the world series of Poker.
In the times when Filipinos were subjected to bingo-style poker. The PPT was a taste of what the WSOP feels like. A tournament with an affordable buy-in that was geared to develop players’ poker skills.
James “Peng” Mendoza was the first champion and has become one of the Philippines’ top players.
The truth is that the PPT is more needed today. Nowadays tournament structures are built to be fast-paced and measures are in place to get players eliminated in order for them to re-buy.
Atty Jojo Allado believed in the Filipinos and fought for them, He believe Filipinos are great players if given the chance to shine.
In his own word
“My dream is that, when foreign players see many Filipinos playing in a poker tournament, they will quiver, because they know how good our players are.”
