Today is day 2 of the Voyager Poker Club – Sinulog Festival. It will be day 2 of the PHP 2 Million GTD which is for only PHP 5,000 (4,500 + 500).
Yesterday only 10 players qualified for day 2 and only 45 entries.
Jaja Boom, the vanguard of Manila did not qualify for day 2.
Alexis “Shoti” Lim defended Cebu ending as the chip leader for Day 1A.
Late night blues
It was definitely a slow day today. but then again, Multiple days Day 1B are always like that.
It is actually better than some of the events we have covered in Manila.
The players from Davao have already arrived and they were having a party at the poker room. Meanwhile, the Manila players are also arriving which does indicate tomorrow a very busy day.
Then again we could be wrong since there are 3 day 1 that remains. Leaving the room for the night’s rest, the room still had plenty of action as the big table had a long waiting list.
Trying to remember how the day went, We woke up early and got invited to join some Manila players for breakfast.
We wanted to check out “Siningag” because it actually had great food the last time we came. But we ended up joining the Manila group for some “Balbaquas”
Food in Cebu is amazing, it s more affordable compared to manila. What we are for breakfast here would have cost more than 3 times in Manila.
But the Aquaman, Jessie Leonarez, knew the right place to go.
After breakfast, time to work. The tournament started right on time and even though there were quite a few players that got busted on the first level. It was not an issue since more players were coming.
Ivy Vp came in late but was already all-in on the firsthand with no caller. but it was in a few more hands she got involved in a 4-way all-in situation which she won with Jack-8.
We recognize only 1 player based in Manila that joined in on the fun while we were getting the report on who was coming.
The poker prince of Davao came in after level 7 and was joined by other Davao players later on. the Big table started around 6 PM.
The tournament ended around 7-730 and the cash games were running hot.
Although, relatively it was a peaceful and quiet day today. We believe tomorrow will be great.

Ivy VP was actually poised to end the day as the chip leader. but a crucial hand shifted the balance of power.
Tofie went all in with pocket jack, Ivy had a good stack and after thinking for a while. decided to call.
Giving a chance for Barcinea who believed that IVY call meant she had a weak hand and shoved all-in. Ivy calls!

IVY VP is definitely having fun right now as she quadrupled up after joining in.
In a 4 way all-in preflop. it was IVY VP J8 versus pocket queen, ace-king, and pocket 6.

One of the best things about going outside Manila to cover events is the hospitality given by the host.
Hence we have learned to love Davao and Cebu and understood the future will be there.
Here is a quick fact. Mike Takayama actually loves visiting Cebu and Davao.
We even hear stories prior to when he finally hit it big. He would go to Davao even with limited funds.
Last year Mike Takayama was here for the Sinulog festival but his time was balanced between Family and poker. With his family, they went around Cebu and enjoyed it.
Will there be surprise champions visiting Cebu? We bet there will so stay tuned!
