Goodbye 2022, Hello 2023
Publish date: January 2, 2023

Hey, Poker Playas!

How was your New Year? as we wander the street last night. People were flocking the street, some gates were open as people were having reunions and celebrating the new year.

It seems like yesterday when people were trapped in their homes and social distancing was being strictly enforced in order to stop the spread of the virus.

But as time passed, vaccines were made available and better treatment. it was time to move forward

The start of 2022

The start of the beginning

It was almost 2 years before live tournaments came back. The first was the RVS Cup where the day1’s were held online.

It took another month before finally a full live tournament was held. It was called a “Special tournament” and slowly players came back.

As Live tournaments were slowly coming back, we made a decision to cover those events. Making. a lot of sacrifices in order to spread the word that the world is finally going back to normal.

as time pases

from one tournament every month to almost every week.

Live tournaments were slowly coming. the last quarter of 2022 has almost 3 times more tournaments than the first quarter.

A few weeks ago we were asked about our opinion on certain things. Although we replied no comment. We were questioned about our stance.

We are there and we are human beings. We will always have an opinion and voicing an opinion as an individual makes us different.

It was true and even newspapers have editorials. so we created the editorial page but have rarely used it. why?

A wise man once said

Advices from wise men

Let go of things you can’t control , focus on things you can.

There is a limit to what we can do. yes like Elmo Celi who was the first full live tournament champion, which took a year before he got his trophy where we had to hit an organizer for such audacity.

But then there are things we can not.

Like how a head of a poker room would lambast, shout, and Lambast a manager in public.

“yes, nakakahiya, paano rerespetuhin young  manager mo kung pinapahiya mo sa publiko?”

Or how a competing manager of a poker room would post a screenshot of the number of players that attended the opponent’s tournament because you the manager decided to clash with them.

“kala ko mas mataas ka? kailangan mo pang magflex?”

But it is their room, we don’t have control over them. It is better to avoid it.

Changes

Welcoming 2023

Now that 2023 is here. we are implementing some changes. As we have said, at the start of 2022, We wanted to spread the word that live tournaments are back. that part is done.

Recently, we were doing the recap of 2022 and realized some of the mistakes we were doing.

We were also spreading ourselves too thin. Hence we were not able to bring the best.

For 2023, we would slow down on coverages and commit more to creating and produce more stuff.

For us, 2023 is the year of opportunity, but you must be ready to meet those challenges. And we would try our best as always to meet it.

Happy new year everyone!
