Metro Card Club – prioritizing players health

Times are tough lately, we are almost 2 years into the pandemic. We are almost there but not yet, Yes there are now vacs available that help increases our immunity, New Medicines are available to help people get well faster. but the pandemic is not over. 

The surge this early January forced the government to put Metro Manila on alert level 3 once again. 

But on the other hand, we need to push forward. It is a battle between making money to stay afloat or making sure the players are safe.

But sometimes some sacrifices can be made and innovative solutions can be implemented to ensure the safety of the players. Metro Card Club chose not to be greedy and beef up its health protocol.

Shutting down for a general cleaning and review

During the surge, Metro Card Club decided to play it safe, shutting down for another round of general cleaning to ensure the safety of the players.

Hiring professional people to assist them with the general cleaning. They went all out. no stone remains untouched.

Next, they reviewed all their safety protocols. Do they need to beef it up or are their current measure good? there is nothing wrong with looking at it again.

How safe is it?

One way to test the safety of the room would be how the upper management handles things. Are they hiding in some backroom scared of getting infected and doing things remotely or are they at the front leading his/her team to battle?

Mylene Advincula is a leader, She is at the front leading her team to the battlefield.  She made sure that her staff are following the protocols.

Assisting where it is needed, giving orders when she should. She was hands-on and not shy to talk to the players and staff if needed. The players are the customers, they are important.

Being visible also sends a very clear message. We are in this together.

After all, if you want players to visit your poker room. if you are confident in your room’s safety measures. Then there should be no reason not to be visible.

Current safety measures 

• Players are required to clean their hands either using the alcohol or the sink they neatly installed at the front door.
• Vac cards are inspected – Metro Card Club is the only room that required players to be Vac before they go in ahead of other rooms. 
• Tables have transparent barriers. (modified to make sure it is safe for the players and the dealers but have enough space to make the game easier)
• Every player has their own mini alcohol spray provided by the room.
• Chairs are cleaned every time a new player will sit down.
• Dealers are tested every week.
• VIP players or “the big game” players must take a test as well. 
• Chips and cards are cleaned and UV treated. 
• Separate entrance and exit.
• Tables are very widely spaced (Seriously, in many instances you can fit a whole table in the middle and still have enough room for two people to walk side by side).
• The staffs are very attentive. they insist you properly wear your mask. 

How is the poker action?

Great to be honest, compared to other rooms. there is a lot more action in Metro Card Club. 

The past few days it was reported they keep having a full house. Action-wise, players are aggressive, Maybe this is due to that they have no bad beat jackpot. Most players are there for poker action. 

Moving forward

With Metro Manila back at alert level 2. Rest assured if there was a poker room that would create that perfect harmony between safety and moving forward the industry. It would be Metro Card Club.
