Hey, Poker Playas!
Voyager Poker Club just marked its 6th anniversary, and they’re showing no signs of slowing down. With a stacked lineup of events for May and June, the action is about to heat up even more—especially with two of Cebu’s local poker celebrities planning to celebrate in a big way. Both poker rooms and players are eagerly anticipating what’s to come.
One thing that sets Cebu apart from Manila? The sheer level of competition.
When it comes to per capita intensity, Cebu’s poker scene is far more cutthroat than Manila’s. While poker rooms in Manila tend to avoid direct clashes with each other, Cebu’s poker ecosystem thrives on head-to-head competition. There’s no backing down—just a constant battle for dominance, both on and off the felt.

With more players, more rivalries, and an ever-growing hunger for bigger and better games, Cebu continues to raise the stakes in the Philippine poker scene.
Stay tuned—because if history tells us anything, the best is yet to come. ♠️🔥
CEBU PLAYERS ARE SPOILED!
Not trying to be offensive—just calling it like I see it. After traveling across the country and getting a behind-the-scenes look at how different poker rooms operate, one thing stands out: Cebu players are spoiled.
Compared to their Manila counterparts, Cebu players enjoy a different level of convenience and perks that many might not even realize. Whether it’s softer structures, better promotions, or more accommodating game formats, the poker ecosystem in Cebu seems to cater more to player comfort.
Meanwhile, in Manila, poker is a grind. Players fight for every edge, adjust to tougher structures, and deal with more competitive conditions. The survival-of-the-fittest mentality is evident—while in Cebu, the environment feels a little more… cushioned.
That’s not to say Cebu players aren’t skilled. Far from it. But when you’ve played in different regions and seen the contrasts firsthand, it’s clear that Cebu’s poker community has it a little easier.
Agree? Disagree? Either way, the cards don’t lie. ♠️🔥
Let’s talk facts. Cebu poker players have it good—maybe too good.
If you’ve played in both Manila and Cebu, you’ll notice a stark contrast in how things operate. In Manila, tournaments often come with higher buy-ins, and it’s not unusual for structures to be shortened to cut costs. Complaints? Sure, but players still grind through it because that’s just how it is.
Now, Cebu? Completely different ball game.
Take time banks, for example. In most places, shorter time banks are an accepted part of the game—but in Cebu, players will literally argue with the floor to have them extended as long as they want.
Or satellite tournaments. In Manila, it’s normal for a satty to only cover the ticket and not the registration fee—no questions asked. In Cebu? Expect pushback. Players will demand that management adjust policies to suit them, and they won’t hesitate to make noise about it.
And don’t even get me started on buy-ins. If a tournament is priced higher than expected, Cebu players won’t just accept it—they’ll make sure management hears about it. In contrast, Manila grinders just suck it up and adjust their bankrolls.
It’s not a criticism—it’s just how things are. Cebu players expect more because they’ve been given more. And when you get used to having things your way, anything less feels unacceptable.
At the end of the day, both scenes have their strengths. Manila breeds warriors. Cebu breeds comfort. Which one’s better? That depends on what kind of poker player you want to be. 🃏🔥
