Editors note:
It’s a great idea for Metro to branch out to the provinces, but there’s a sense that they could have maximized this opportunity even further. By tapping into the growing poker communities outside Manila, Metro has the potential to establish a stronger presence and grow the game across the country. Expanding strategically and nurturing local talent could have set the stage for even bigger success.

Metro Card Club has been working hard to align with bigger names, as seen in the recent APT Challenge 2024. It was not just a good idea, but a great one in terms of elevating their profile. However, the challenge lies in building the groundwork necessary to establish their own name and brand.

Hosting Day 1A in the provinces was a smart move, expanding their reach. But they missed the chance to build momentum by holding one or two smaller events that could have cemented their presence and identity further. In the end, they ended up focusing on selling a large prize pool, which is common among many poker rooms.

Most poker rooms in Manila fall into the same pattern: they market a large pot, but fail to highlight what makes them unique. If the only selling point is a big prize, other rooms could easily up the ante with a bigger pool. The real challenge is creating something distinctive that makes players come back for more than just the prize money.

Hopefully, Metro has something else in the pipeline to truly establish their brand and make their events stand out. Stay tuned!
