Hey, Poker Playas!

The Higalaay Poker tour was recently held in Cagayan de Oros’s Kings Card Club.

Although only a few Manila players were present during the event, one Manila-based player carried the torch for Manila and finished in second place.

Although Junnie Pamplona has won numerous events, only a few know who he is.

His opponent on the last few rounds attempted to tilt him by showing his bluff not knowing Rolly is a seasoned pro.

Here is a quick recap of who Junnie Pamplona is aka Rolly Rules.

Junnie Pamplona actually started way back in 2016. He is actually one of Mike Takayama’s early students.

Rolly was one of the guys playing poker in one of the poker clubs in Manila and was playing the dailies and smaller games until Mike Takayama started advising him on how to play poker correctly.

It was during the crucial games and moments that Mike would step up and advise him what to do.

As early as 2018 he was hitting Macau and playing with some of the world’s best all thanks to Mike Takayama and slowly he began to have his own style of playing and made a name for himself.

After the pandemic

After the Pandemic, Rolly started to make a name for himself and shine.

He played the second full live tournament for Manila, which was Okada Manila Million, and finished 4th place. As there was an ICM deal on the final 4.

This was at that time a significant win due to it being after the pandemic and big live tournaments were still a rarity.(once a month) Live tournaments only began to pick up during the mid-half of 2021.

He did make a lot of good cashes in 2022 but the biggest one came in 2023.

He came 3rd place in August 2022 in WPT Prime Cambodia receiving more than 100k USD for his effort. His biggest win in the live poker tournament scene.

He then followed it up with a big win in May 2023 as he came 2nd in the APPT Cambodia main event earning himself more than 100k USD again.

He has earned more than 250k USD and is ranked 9th in the current GPI poker index.

Junnie Pamplona is one of the few Filipinos who recently hit the South and enjoyed their time there.

Poker is not only available in Manila but is also Availble in the Visayas and Mindanao.

The South poker community has been growing and it needs the support of the Manila players to help make it grow even bigger.

Tinayuan falls – Surigao

They recently hit Davao for the Kadayawan festival but visited various beautiful places in the process.

Nest they went off to Surigao before hitting the first Higalaay poker Festival which he finished second.

They took a Ferry to Cebu last night and are now on their way to Voyager Poker Club the juiciest cash game in the south.

While some players dream of hitting other countries. Rolly group hit the south not only to play the friendlist game in ph but loving the Philippines in its own way.
