Chapter 6 – Taking control
Like most poker players, everyone started small. It was almost a decade ago when a young man found a dream.
I started playing poker live poker in 2012 in a local card room in Cebu. played 10/20 blinds during college and a lot of 500 peso tournaments together with friends.
A little advice from Peng
CHOOSE WHO YOU HANG OUT WITH – I think this is a bit underated. You should choose the right circle, chose where you could learn and grow. Not just in poker but life in general.
I am so lucky to have those kind of friends in this industry. (shoutout to Jojo Tech for inviting me to be part of the group ).
Going back to the story
Slowly I work Myself up, I went from playing USD 1/3 stakes to 100/200 in 2 years. I believe it was the best years of my life.
Going through all of the heartache and pain in the past Help build who I am today. Not just financially but I matured when it comes to making decisions in life outside poker.
Chapter 7 – Covid, WSOP 2022
During Covid
During covid, I played online and i played alot of online cash (PLO).
I think PLO cash is still my best game and I prefer playing PLO cash than mtt.
WSOP 2022
I played more than 20 tournaments but had 0 cash. It was devastating! so after the series I challenged myself to improve my MTT games and then played alot of circuits. Luckily series by series my game has improved alot.
I also started investing in my self and hired a coach to improve even more and learn how to use poker tools like the solvers.
After the WSOP last year I cashed in more than 650k$ in other tournaments so i can really say ive improved.
but theres still so much to learn and I know I still have to improve my overall game.
Chapter 8 – next chapter
Advice for new players
Be patient. Theres alot of tools right now out there that could help you improve your game.
CHOOSE WHO YOU HANG OUT WITH.
And last advice is try to build your own bankroll.
it may be hard at the start, but it will help you in the long run.
I believe that one of the most important key to be successful in poker is bankroll management. I know alot of good players that didnt make it and some average players who has a very good bankroll management that are able to survive and still make good money from Poker.
