To watch out for 2023 – Edgar Asehan Jr
Publish date: January 7, 2023

Hey, Poker Playas!

We are still in Manila but only one more day left before we head to Cebu for the Voyoger Poker Club – Sinulog Festival.

We had to fix quite a few things before heading to Cebu, including articles and other stuff.

Change after all is part of life, whether we want it or not. One of those changes was. to fix the featured image to make sure it does not get interrupted when viewing it on mobile. although it kinda looks strange on desktop. bare with it for awhile.

before it began

From the mist

Prior to 2022

Basing on the GPI. Edgar Asehan JR only had 2 in-the-money recorded. That was prior to that he was more focused on the cash games than tournaments.

Ironically his record for winning in tournaments prior to 2022 is one that was recorded in March 2020.

A few days before the lockdown.

The lockdown was a totally different story. since online there were more tournaments. His win on the last tournament before the lockdown made him consider playing more tournaments and he actually won a lot online on poker apps.

But he dreamt of winning a live tournament when things go back to normal

2022 – Almost but not quite

Rise from the ashes

2022 – 43 cashes

From a mere two recorded wins and cashes. Edgar’s record improved tremendously in 222.

43 Recorded cashes and a few trophies. the truth is the trophies did elude him. he had made a lot of close wins including taking second place in the APC Main event at the Metro Card Club.

Main events win have eluded him for 2022

But then again he went up against the King of PH Poker, Mike Takayama, the undisputed.

Mike Takayama was a dominant force that day and he basically busted out all the final table opponents. He did put up a brave fight. but in the end, the king remained the king.

After that, he went out and got more cashes including his first-ever trip to play poker outside Manila. Armed with the experience and knowledge of every opponent he has fought. he became a regular in being on day 2 that qualifying was a walk in the park.

Although he had. a lot of cashes in the tournament. the Main event trophy eluded him.

2023 – a new year and a new beginning

2023

The year of the rabbit

To some astrologers, the Year of the rabbits is the year of Karma. those who work hard will be rewarded this year.

We reap what we sow.

Edgar had many cashes this year and 2023 might be the year he finally get the Main event trophy he so desires.

Anything is possible and Edgar Asehan has proven that he has what it takes to be a champion.

Maly mo may sumigaw na “Ituloy ang Kasal”

So stay tuned!
