Sleeping Monsters
Publish date: January 3, 2023

Hey, poker playas!

When a single pot on your cash game table is equivalent to the total pot of the tournament, Where will your focus be?

Or when the things that you worked on will net more than the champion purse, would you still focus on your game?

The other Filipinos that were considered monsters before the pandemic took a back seat and played less. they still managed to bad a few wins here and there in the tournament. but what happened?

Lester Edoc

This year Lester Edoc did not win that much. but the problem was not based on his game. He really did play less now than he use to before. Not only that, the time he did play …

Well, take for example early 2022. he did play an event at the Metro. He ended up as chip leader for that day1, Which is a testament to how great he really is as a poker player.

Day 2 was a different story. He barely played on Day 2. because the cash game in the VIP of the Metro was just damn good.

A single pot of the VIP cash game was the whole tournament pot.Β

There are also other things he is taking care of. for now, he is a sleeping monster.

Now that it is 2023 and new challenges are opening. Will the monster be hungry again? stay tuned!

Lester Edoc

Florencio Campomanes

-28 cashes
-17 final tables
-13 top 3 finishes

Although Flo on his personal page admitted that he is starting to play more events.

The truth is Flo still played less than other average poker players. He was already on a different league.

An average Filipino poker player in event would play Main events and other events but Super Highroller events are still out of their league. Even Highroller events are not on the average poker players list.

While let’s say there is an international event. Flo will play the HR events and SHR events. But Flo jumping on a super deep stack turbo event? We believe he did not.

But that is what makes him a sleeping monster. He is picking the events he would play.

Again there is nothing wrong with this.

Some events are just not that good. Flo is managing and weighing on which event is worth it or not. which is right!

With the world opening more and more organizers coming in. Flo for 2023 wants to be more well-rounded. so expect to hear about his victory more this year.

Also, one good thing about Flo is for the record he did great as a Mentor this year. His student did great which we would also write about soon.

There is a difference between a coach and a mentor.

So stay tuned as we discussed more about it soon,
