Maxwell Philippe Rosete or Bimby has just won the APPL Main Event.
Bimbybap is one of the friendliest players on the Asian Circuit. We often joke around with him calling him the Donut monster due to his love of sweets.
It became well known of his love for sweets During the IVP Cup in Cebu where he finished a whole cake.
The cake was specially prepared by the host Ivy VP who is the best host in Cebu for his guest that flew in to celebrate her birthday and joined her tournament.
The cake did not stood a chance against bimby
In fairness, it was a very delicious cake as confessed by those who were able to take a bite of it.
Cebu has been known to have great hospitality, Ivy VP made sure it was a very good cake. and if players want to have a taste of Cebu hospitality. This week they have a good tourney just for you.
But back to the topic, Bimby love for cake is not the reason we are supportive of him. He is one of the new blood with tons of potential. He has the right Fundamentals plus he even took in a coach to guide him.
Flo Campomanes – Not just a coach but a true mentor and friend
After earning a good amount from buying a percent from a player. He wanted to improve his game. Instead of spending it, he used the money to get himself a coach.
He enrolled in the Flo program, Flo is the first Filipino to win both the APPT main event and Red dragon.
But Flo was not a mere coach, he became a mentor and was behind Bimby all the way.
Flo became a true friend to Bimby guiding him all the time and scolding him for any mistakes. He even would go beyond just a regular coach in many instances which we would mentioned later on.
PPT CHampion 2022/ Masters 420k Champion
When Live tournaments were finally back, Bimby was eager to test his skills. His big hit this year was the PPT 2022 Main event champion.
He has cashed in some of the Major tournaments and was also the Masters 420k Champion after being inspired when his mentor took down the Bluff Masters challenge of Masters Poker.
He is a rising star but a huge score in big tournaments was eluding him. But he never lost hope.
APPL
Sporting a new haircut, we were teasing him he looked like a Korean.
Since it was supposed to be a Korean event. He fit in perfectly.
But come play time, it was serious time for the Bimbybap!
He was a monster on the felt. he finished day 1 in the top 10. but day 2 was crazy. At one time he was the chip leader, but a fatal mistake cut his chips.
As the hours went and finally it was the final8. Bimby finished with the lowest stack.
Coaches to the rescue
On the final day, Bimby had the shortest stack, but lo and behold. the coaches came to the rescue.
Arriving early, we caught Bimby with his coach Flo in the coffee shop. Flo was giving last minutes advice and even “the Godzilla” Emman Segismundo joined in. They were there to support Bimby sharing with him what they believe are his flaws.
Flo was even the one who drove him to the Rizal Park hotel and exchanged notes along the way to make sure he was ready.
His mentors were there to guide him and cheer him, What more could he ask for?
The blessing of the king
The undisputed, Mike Takayama, Who was Eliminated on Day 2 due to a bad beat was also there.
He is there to cheer Bimby and offer his guidance if needed. He was in full support of Bimby.
With all that support behind. Bimby had all the backup he needed and it was game time.
With all that preparation he was ready!
Game Time
It was game time. he had all the support he needed. but he was short-stack. he could not afford any mistake. But his coaches told him not to be scared.
And then a crucial hand gave him all the confidence he needed.
He hit a straight on the flop against an opponent two pair. It was an all-in situation on the flop and his straight held.
After doubling up, he had now the chips he needed and slowly but surely he dominated the table.
heads up and becoming the champion
As his opponents slowly got eliminated from the game. Bimby had a huge lead going to the heads up.
It was all but certain he was going to bag it.
And he did
The first APPL Champion
Maxwell Philippe Rosete came in as the shortest stack of the day. but he came in with the support of some of the best of PH.
He came in and got the job done.
With so many tournaments coming in the next few weeks. We know Bimby will be playing it. Will this be his last big win? no as this is just only the beginning.
Because Maxwell Philippe Rosete will always stay humble and has the right fundamentals.
We can not wait to see his next big win.
