Hey, Poker Playas!
Now that the APPL is over, like all other poker organizations. the buck stops there.
You read about the champions, the result, and the hands but that is pretty much all of it.
you really don’t hear much about it. the stories behind the scene are seldom seen.
Sometimes you would have a video of it but it shows what the organizer wants to show but not the full story.
Here are some facts about the APPL PH 2022.

APPL – the structure
On one side you have the organizer which was the APPL, You have the host and then you have the Poker team.
Wild Aces provided the manpower to help make it happen. However, the schedule and the structure were handled by the APPL.
It was APPL that was in charge all along. the Wild Aces team could only suggest. but the end decision was all APPL.
APPL – Where it failed
APPL promised to bring in 200 Koreans to play. This was the basis why it got approval from Pagcor. From claiming the storm canceled some of the flights to “they are already here”. the truth is there were never 200 Koreans.
It was an empty promise, the truth was it was all superficial.
Made a big guarantee, boosted a page, and hired some photographers and videographers to make it look big.
It relied heavily on shortcuts and a big guarantee to lure people in. Everything was superficial. But it is not like it is something new. Our world is filled with it.
A chance for the local to shine and they did
As the truth started to unravel, There were no massive Koreans coming in. It was one big lie.
The tournament was on the brink of failure. Then there was a massive overlay on the horizon.
Thankfully, Wild aces made its move. Dexter Mercado took charge and knew the people to contact to save the tournament.
It was the Filipino ingenuity that saved the tournament.
Giving credit were credit is due. yes the Korean who was in charge made it possible to have the tournament. they put up the guarantee and help secure the venue. but the most vital part was relied heavily on superficial work.
When it was time to deliver it was the Dexter and his team that made it worked.
Yes, the organizers hired photographers, videographers and boosted their page. they put up the guarantee and the venue. But it was really nothing more than to create a show. they believed simple shortcuts would worked.
This week we hope we can write about all of it before the next event happens.
But leaving a note behind, One thing that the event did prove was Filipinos are ready for bigger buy-in tournaments. And Filipinos have the capabilities to shine.
It just have to find the right people.
