Whether you are a player of a poker room operator. the truth is the competition is getting fiercer by the day.
Let us say you are a poker player, Even some of the best poker players sell shares or percent because everyone knows how difficult it is to win a tournament.
That is reality.
Imagine in a field of 400 minimum. you are fighting against 399 players who are also dreaming to win.
And to be recognized in this industry is not easy either. Unless you are the wonder kid Jason Kyle Magbanua, who bagged 2 major tournaments back to back, or Mike Takayama, the first one to win a WSOP Bracelet. Only the Champion will get the glory, anything less your nobody.
And even if you succeed in doing so. you have to continuously win to maintain it.
That is reality.
As the competition gets fiercer
Poker rooms also have to deal with such things. The market is not really that big yet.
On one side you have poker rooms in Manila competing for the same market, then there is also the outside competition you have to contend with.
There are just so many “experts” out there who have continuously failed but that never stopped them from selling themselves to be great. It is sometimes hilarious how they try to position themselves but that is because they can get away with it.
We do live in an era where the fake ones as long as they can sell themselves hard will get away with things. That is why bad players can get stakes or badly structured tournaments can still get numbers.
It is because they can get away with it. or can they?
Losing the battle and winning the war
After 3 weeks of long coverages, the top 3 poker rooms we are looking forward to covering and we are not shy to say about it. It would be the Masters poker, The Voyager Club of Cebu, and Metro Card Club Davao,
As we would write about them in separate articles. We decided to write about Masters poker first.
And yes it is about the buttered chicken and the beer and of course about their tournaments.
Masters poker probably has the best-buttered chicken in all the poker rooms we have visited. and yeah they have even changed their menu to. be even better and to be honest, their fried lumpia and cheese stick are also great.
Of course, we would have bashers that would say we are poker players, we are only interested in poker topics.
The truth is that there will be tournaments one after the other and we would be covering most of them starting next week again.
Our topic for today is about poker rooms have been able to create their own identity.
They did!
Everybody wants to win but not everybody will
Here is the real truth about poker, there are times players would pass by and have a chat, and they would complain about how a player called him when it should have been a fold. But you love their call.
Let us admit, no matter how good you are. there would be that one idiot that would knock you out. You love them but you hate their luck.
But that is poker, without that element of luck. it would be boring.
It will always be the top 5% that would be happy. the rest is not much.
Real poker players understand that. All of us want to win but not everyone can.
While other poker rooms compete in big guarantees. Masters poker did not have such and yet their tournaments stood out. And the buttered chicken? We were craving it while covering the APT.
That is identity.
To be able to have something stand out when the competition gets fiercer every day. That is the sign of true growth.
Masters poker has been standing out, They have set themselves apart by not having big guarantees and yet grew organically.
Masters is growing. poker is not just about big guarantees. Master having big tournaments someday is a possibility. but before that. the real truth is it has edged over its competitors and established its brand.
Masters did not have a big brand. but it is establishing one. Not visiting Masters is a great mistake. because it is growing. unlike other rooms that have been stagnant over the years. doing the same thing over and over. Masters Poker has continuously made its mark in the industry.
We cant wait to see how big they can grow. unlike the other rooms. it is what it is.
