The Rundown – July 12, 2022
Publish date: July 12, 2022

Hey, Poker Playas!

This week 3 tournaments are about to clash with their scheduled tournaments which will definitely affect each other. although we do not expect an overlay.

Poker has been around the Philippines for more than 10 years, plus due to the pandemic. Many people started playing online because there was really not much to do.

The Market did grow and online stars have been making their presence felt in the recent live tournaments.

The market is really different now, a lot of things have changed. Can the poker room catch up?

Here is a quick rundown on what to expect this week.

Tournaments one after the other.

3 tournaments are set to clash this week. However, the buy-ins and guarantees are different. There will indirectly affect each other.

To start with is the GG Poker Manila 300k GTD. There is also the Masters’ poker 750k GTD and of course the Metro weekend special which is 250k GTD.

There is a significant reason why the clash this week is heavily monitored as the repercusions and future stance of poker rooms could change. Although there have been small clashes here and there. The clash was not that large as the guarantees and buying were hugely different.

This week however is when the difference is very close as the GG poker 1 million PHP GTD and the Masters Poker 750k is a bit close in terms of buy-ins and guarantees.

A new player is also in the horizon which is why making a difference now is important.

A new player?

Updated tournament schedule

A new poker room will open soon

A new poker room will open soon and unlike the others that have come before. this one will come in full force.

It will have 16 tables and with so many tables. then tournaments will definitely be on the board.

After all the biggest poker room in Manila does not have 16 tables cash game running or has run that many tables since the pandemic.

When will they open? that is still left uncertain but the setup and hiring are happening. So it may be sooner than later.

The emergence of new stars

The poker industry has been shocked by the emergence of new stars lately and they are taking the local poker industry by storm.

John Matsuda was the first to make the new impact as leading days1A like it was a normal thing to do. next came Federick Cruz.

But the newest addition to the out-of-nowhere line is Jason Kyle Magbanua who recently bagged two big events back to back.

The market definitely changing lately but can the industry catch up?
