Voyager Poker Club – The future of poker in Cebu looks bright
Publish date: June 21, 2022

Hey, Poker Playas!

This week’s things have calmed down for a bit before big tournaments come back.

There were 2 tournaments that happened last week and we covered one of them which was happening in Cebu.

Cebu is a province of the Philippines, in the country’s Central Visayas region. It is a one-hour flight from Manila and the poker room is located in Mandaue City.

A small poker room in Cebu, was the tournament great?

Read on.

IVY VP

IVY VP

The Poker queen of the Cebu

The best host of the south

IVP VP is one of the best host of the Philippines. Some of the host from Manila can only bring in the players that are already in Manila. Not much challenge there.

But when you throw a poker tournament and have the players from Manila, Bulacan, Cagayan, Davao and even from other countries to come to your poker room for your birthday. That is amazing, and she is hands on when running the show.

Due to the limited number of tables. Cash games have to be put aside. but when one table opens. Expect Ivy to be at her best. It takes less than 5 Minutes for her to convert it to a cash game table with all chips prepared, players at their seat and refreshment ready by thier side. She was that fast!

There have been many poker rooms due to the lack of table would avoid tournaments. Not Ivy. she understood the limitations and work around it. Her team was completly ready without interfering on how the tournament was run. She kept the integrity of the game but maximise every opportunity. A true top class host.

John Ong – Keeping the tournamenta well structured

John Ong

The tournament consultant

One of the better things we have to say abotu the tournament was the structure. John Ong maintened the structure to compete with the world. not the bingo stuff some organizers are pushing.

You do not come back to the final table with 40,000/80,000 binds. there was even a roll back if it was neccesary.

However, their format is a little different which was speciaifically built to fit the size of the room. but he is looking for other ways to change it and may shift to 10% of the field.

Currently, the system is no matter how many joined on a certain day. 16 players will qualify for day 2.

but the structure of the tournament. Praise worthy just to give you an idea of the blinds.

Level 1 – 100/200

Level 2 – 100/200/100

Level 3 – 100/200/100

Level 4 – 200/300/200

Level 5 – 200/400/400

Level 6 – 300/500/500

end of registration

Level 7 – 300/600/600

Level 8 – 400/800/800

Level 9 – 500/1,000/1,000

Level 10 – 600/1,200/1,200

Level 11 – 800/1,600/1,600

Level 12 – 1,000/2,000/2,000

The tournament actually should finsihed by level 12 or only 16 players are left. if there are more than 16. the blinds follows until 16 players are left.

Yes, it means that players will come back at level 12. If you come back with 100,000 chips. you are in a very healthy level. we will highlight the other level instead of posting each level.

Level 15 – 2,000/4,000/4,000

Level 20 – 5,000/10,000/10,000

Level 25 – 15,000/30,000/30,000

Level 27 – 20,000/40,000/40,000

Level 30 – 35,000/70,000/70,000

Comparatively, if players was finished day1 at level 12. On actual, the qualified players came back at level 22/23. And a roll back at the final table, this makes the Cebu poker room a great training ground to practice your tournament skills.

Instead of staying in Manila playing a bingo type tournament. players who travelled and played on this tour got thier moneys worth.

On the Front line and the backend

In terms of the front desk. the girls from voyager are quite attentive. they are not only a beautiful face to entertain you. but they are actually Ivy VP backend ready to assist her in the players need.

And they are very attentive. whether you are in the tournament or the cash game. They are very quick on their feet. No wonder Ivy VP have always shared that they are her assets and pride. She is proud of them and they are quite good.

It is too bad we had to go back to Manila. We definitely would miss Cebu. We hope they have another big tournament soon.

To the players who chose not go. You missed a lot!
