Hey, poker players!

There are actually now 2 poker rooms that are pushing for good structures.

While the rest of the industry is more focused on bigger guarantees but creating a huge downside by making the structure as fast as possible.

That really begs the question which one is better?

Are good structures really more important than big guarantees with bad structures?

which is really more important?

Here is a comparison of both.

As a poker player, what is your ultimate goal?

Of course, poker players would say, their dream is to one day play at the WSOP and win a bracelet.

Most of us want to win a big tournament that could really change our lives and live the life we want to live.

But here are the facts. big tournaments tend to have good structure because it is a battle of skills, not luck. only one organizer is pushing for the ideology that poker is a luck game.

Poker is a battle of skill. and if you want to someday to really be a champion. then you really need to get better.

Playing good structure tournaments

There was only 1 poker room in Manila that offers a good structure tournament since poker tournaments were allowed to be held again. Metro Card Club which is located in Ortigas, which many find considerably far.

It is either you play bingo-style poker tournaments or travel to Metro

And the structure of Metro Card Club is good. Considered home and the starting point of a lot of the known Filipino poker players today. It was the breeding ground of future champions.

But for Manila, there was none. Manila players always had the luck of having poker rooms pushing for turbo tournaments.  There was not really anything consistent that could help molds future champions.

Finally, Masters poker finally made its move and held its first major tournament.

Enters the Masters poker – Bluff Masters 2022

In an area where poker tournaments are bingo-style to a point that one poker room turned it into a cash cow. (There is a poker room in Manila that has pushed the limit of tournaments that they actually were earning more than the champion purse.) Enters the Master’s Poker Bluffmasters.

A simple 1 Million PHP poker tournament with simple buy-in but promised that it would have a great structure.

It delivered on its promise and great players actually had a chance to shine.

Players did love it as the pot still exceeded the guarantee and a true champion emerged.

Conrad Lumaban emerged as the champion of the bluff masters. He was also the champion of the pre-event.

Conrad Lumaban is actually a veteran poker player who has turned playing poker into a living.

Yes, he is a cash game player and he was not on the top 5 entering the final day. but A friend pointed out that if he could survive to the final 8. There would be rollback of 30 big blinds. (which became un heard of in Manila as one organizers prefers everyone short stack on the final table(10 bb average stack)

He was given a chance to use all his skills in a tournament that is fit for real poker players.

He took it and brought it home. Winning the event that was the battle of the best and not the battle of the luckiest.

Moving towards the future.

The big tournaments will always have a good structure. Only one organizer is pushing their way and pushing that this is what the Asian market want.

But the big ones will always have good structures. Those that will change people’s lives.

And to win in those events. There must be a poker room that can affordable tournaments that offers good structure.

Yes, other poker rooms could get groundbreaking guarantees.

But the next generation of champions from Manila will come from the Masters. Because they offer training for the new players to hone their skills. The champions will come from the master.

because Masters is investing in the future.
