Hey, poker playas!
A lot of players were affected by the pandemic. There is no denying that. but now that tournaments are back. There are questions on staking and other stuff.
The biggest question of course is it worth it? and we have pointed out that there are some key factors that people should look into and they can decide for themselves if it is worth it.
but one of the key components we also wrote about is the character of the players if you chose to invest. We intend to release a few stories to explain that character matters.
The back story
A player wanted to play this big tour. As luck would have it. he had a staker that financed his entries.
There were multiple days to qualify and out of the 4 day1. On the last day 1 he was able to qualify.
So if the buy-in for easier computation will be settled at 5,000. making the total entry at 20,000.
As the tournament goes deep. The stake player reached the final table.
The Incident
When there were only 6 players left, an icm chop was proposed and PlayerA due to his stack could receive more than PHP 200k. However, if he finished 6th place. he would only receive PHP 60,000.
The players called the staker, the staker wanted the ICM chop and would even give a better share to the player regardless if he already spent a lot of money.
The player refuse and wanted to battle it out. As luck would have it the players finished 6th placed.
The question now boils down to was the player is right to make the decision or should the staker order be followed?
Interpretation and opinion
We have asked and listened to a lot of players’ opinions as well that it was regret because the player lost. but what if the player won and become the champion?
If player A became the champion. most people would say he was good for not listening to the financier.
which really does have a very valid point.
Sometimes the result does affect the judgment.
We wrote this incident because it did happen and many players knew about it. So writing the incident when there are people who already knew the ending will affect their opinion, to begin with.
And this is not an isolated incident either. before the pandemic, there were a lot of incidents between stakers and stakee.
but who does really have a say on this?
Share your opinion as we would also post it here and share our own opinion as well.
