Marc Rivera

Most people know Marc Rivera as the man who finished 3rd place in the PSPC winning more than 2 million USD.

But Marc Rivera, was well known in the poker circle even before that. Tales of his discipline and poker ethics were well known and was considered the best cash game player in the Philippines.

Now on the field. players will get to see him in action.

Edgar Asehan

Manila Super Series Warm-up Champion

One of the new names that popped out after the lockdown was Edgar Asehan. That was because during the lockdown Edgar was able to secure big wins on the local online tournament scene. Whispers of the online champion were buzzing.

When Live tournaments were back. Edgar as able first to secure a small side event trophy then next a big warm-up trophy.

19:00 HRS – PPT Day1C – Level 8 – 250/500/500 ante – 106 players

BJ Perez

A future Champ

BJ Perez has been running deep lately, just on the Metro Card Club alone. He ran deep in its two initial tournaments finishing under the top 20 and even finishing 3rd.

He also ran deep in the APT Championship event and was top of the chips for day 1.

But still missing the coveted trophy. Maybe this time he will be able to bring it home. Stay tuned!

18:30 HRS – PPT Day1C – Level 7 – 250/500/500 ante – 100 players

Joseph Sia

Metro Team Pro

Joseph Sia is on his second bullet as he did run deep in Day1A but was not able to qualify.

he is probably the most supportive of the team pro to the others making sure they have been updated on the events that are happenings and the patches if his teammate forgets.

He recently did good on the APT  but was not able to deliver a big one. We hope its this one!

He had a string of bad luck but in the last Metro event he finished 9th and During the APT Philippines 2022 which was held recently, he was able to secure some good wins like finishing 3rd in a high roller event and 4th on the head hunters.

Now at the PPT, he has eyes that are burning with desire to become the champion.

Can he secure it? stay tuned!

18:00 HRS – PPT Day1C – Level 6 – 200/400/400 ante – 96 players

Jeorge “Egoy” Lagatuz

APT RWM Mystery Bounty weekend Main event champion

Even Champions can still grow.

When Live poker tournaments were finally allowed. it was all first more for the Filipinos. that was because the border was still close.

Only 2 poker houses/organizers promoted good structure. One of which was the APT.

The first tournament of the APT was the APT RWM mystery bounty weekend where they introduce the mystery bounty but maintain a good structure.

Jeorge “Egoy” Lagatuz stood on top of the main event. He bested some of the best local players and was crowned its champion.

But when the border opened and more foreigners came in. Jeorge was not doing well and knew he needed to improve his game. Slowly he has been making growth and has improved his game by learning from good mentors.

Now he is ready to do battle. Go Egoy!

17:30 HRS – PPT Day1C – Level 5 – 150/300/300 ante – 70 players

Junnie “Rolly Rules” Pamplona

Super Sayan God mode ON!

The APT was the first Major tournament for the Philippines since the lockdown. It took a while but it was only last year before any live poker tournament was allowed.

Rolly did great during the first few months and is still grinding in the cash game. but on the APT Philippines 2022, Rolly did not do that good.

Armed with. the lessons he learned. He is now in his super Saiyan god mode and determined to win this tournaments

Good Luck!

16:45 HRS – PPT Day1C – Level 4 – 100/200/200 ante – 42 players

Vamerdino Magsakay

Metro Team Pro/ Action PH pro

The conqueror of APT Vietnam and the only Filipino to win a Sunday Million is now on the felt.

Vamerdino Magsakay may not have been as active in the APT Philippines 2022 choosing to spend more with his family. It was still a good win for the Metro as Mike Takayama, a fellow Metro Team Pro won it instead.

Vam still puts a balance between playing poker and spending time with his family which is great. With so many tournaments coming up. Sometimes you just have to step back and enjoy every minute of your life.

But now he is in the tournament. You can expect he will create some great poker action on the table.

16:15 HRS – PPT Day1C – Level 3 – 100/200 – 30/30 players

Crucial moments

the 4th table is now getting full. it looks like a good day for the Metro.

Meanwhile, we would like to share a little story about the action yesterday.

Maxwell Philippe Rosette was on his way to finishing as the chip leader yesterday. but on the last levels. the action shifted and changed the story.

Maxwell was sitting on top with more than 120k-130k chips. or even more. the clock was ticking and winding down. Jharome Pena had around 20k-30k stack.

Jharome opened with a small raise which was met by a reraise by Maxwell. Jharome thought for a moment and called. the flop came out with small cards and Jharome fired with a small raise only to be met by Maxwell huge raise that put Jharome in an all-in situation. Jharome snaps called and show AQ while Maxwell reveals an overpaid with jacks. As luck would have it, an Ace came out on the turn, and Jharome doubles up.

it was almost the next hand after a similar situation came. Maxwell raise and was called by Jharome. the flop came out 10 high and both check.on the turn, Maxwell fired a small bet and was called by Jharome.

On the river, Maxwell checked only to be met by a 21,500 bet by Jharome. Maxwell tanked for a long time and called. Jharome revealed having 2 pairs while Maxwell silently mucks his hand.

The day ended with Jharome now with 128,400 chips while Maxwell was down to 104,000.

The last level is always a crucial period because it can make or break players.

The ending is not yet finished as both survived to day 2.

15:15 HRS – PPT Day1C – Level 1 – 50/100 – 15/15 players

Elmo Celi

Qualified day 2 with 84,300 chips

Elmo Celi qualified Day2 with a good stack. Yes, Some people would tease him calling him the “All-in” Machine and stuff. His stories are sometimes hilarious for some people.

But over the years we have watched this man play. We know the guy has grown. He is different from the way he used to play before and has improved quite a lot.

What also stands out from this man was his heart. take away his antics and funny stories. There are times you can see from Elmo’s eyes when he wants to win.

He would fold great hands or make gutsy moves, but when he set his eyes on a goal he goes after it with all his heart.

We often encounter people who would claim they are better than Elmo Celi. but one thing you can not deny is. He is a champion.

He won the Okada Special tournament main event and was even against Lester Edoc on the heads up,

He has also qualified for day 2 with a good stack. While the others have excuses of not having staker or receiving an unbelievable bad beat that is why they did not reach day2. Elmo will continue to push himself forward.
