Under estimated – Edgar Asehan
Publish date: March 31, 2022

Hey, poker players!

Yes, the world shut down for a long time, and only recently did live poker was able to come back.

Yeah, the old champions are there and making a hit. but one surprising player is rising in the ranks.

Edgar Asehan started out just watching other players playing. He would be dragged by his friend into a casino and would just watch them play.

Intrigued with the game, he started learning the game slowly. He became a regular grinder but had aspirations of growing big.

In an interview, he professes that he idolizes “Lester Edoc and on the cash game Marc Rivera.” and of course, the only Filipino-born poker champion to win a WSOP bracelet, Mike Takayama.

Many people don’t know but it was during the hardest time that Edgar’s rise started. he bagged a live event just before the lockdown. He was a blade that went through the hottest of fire and was ready to go to war.

But sad to say the lockdowns began. but did it stop the man?

Nope.

He shifted his game to online and bagged quite a number of events.

The lockdown blues

AS the world shifted to working home or staying at home during the lockdown. Edgar brought his game to the online scene.

Hitting a number of the big events online and almost on a weekly basis.

He was not greedy either as he would share his blessing and help other players out during the lockdown.

He knew other players were having a hard time not being able to play live. He stood up and became the silent leader. Pushing players to play and inspiring them to win.

He was the light in the dark for a lot of the players.

A Down to earth poker player

In a world where most people try to sell themselves as champions as loudly as possible. Edgar Asehan was quite the opposite. he is an introvert by nature and would rather have a small group of friends.

Even to this day. he would always thank the people who have helped him on his poker journey. Never missing a beat to the people that trusted him on how he owes their trust in his skills that made him the man he is today.

He was also quite old-fashioned giving gifts to players and dealers’ parents if he ever won anything big and there was a birthday celebration going on.

People, players, and dealers loved him for it.

The next episode

Now that live poker tournaments are back. Edgar Asehan has been making some serious cashes. whether it’s tournaments or cash games. He is slowly becoming a man to beat.

Give this guy a good stack and he will bring it to the bank.

He has already earned a trophy this year for a side event but currently, his luck is not doing great.

His queens have been hit hard by AK during the APT RWM Mystery country weekend and also the recently concluded special tournament in Okada where his pocket pair was hit by an ace-king.

He was ahead. but lady luck did not shine on him. but a great player knows that it is only a matter of time before he starts winning again.

He is not being out-skilled but out-luck.

He is a king in the making.

And we cant wait to see more action from Edgar Asehan.

Stay safe poker playas!
