Experienced poker player will tell you that the blinds don’t even tell you half of the story. Yes, a poker room may have certain blinds. but in reality. if the players on the table are tight as a rock. You pretty much will be spending the whole night competing for the title of the tightest player in the world.
The blinds tell half the story. so we went out to check for ourselves where is the best place to play poker on weekends.

The smallest blinds in the room
The Metro Card Club
The action In the tables in Metro Card Club is definitely great. The blinds start from 20-40 and the minimum buy-in is only 500 PHP. Much has changed in the Metro since the lockdown.
The Metro Card Club use to have more 10-20 PHP tables than anything else. but now the tables go from 20-40 (1-2 tables), 25-50(2-3 tables) then 50-100 (2-3 tables), and then higher.
Originally we wanted to write about what we observed on how they play. but it would take too much space so we decided to write it at a later date.
There are a lot of position players in the game. Testing the 20-40 out. You can definitely spot the position player who would raise 500 on the button even when only players called the blind. There are also a few straddlers and other players who are not shy to take the pot away from them by raising big on late position.
Any raise from 200-300 on the 20-40 will get quite a few callers.
The 25-50 is almost the same but the action is lower.
The Master Poker Club
The only other room that has regular 20-40 blinds. However. The calling range of the players in Malate is definitely lower.
The proper bet range to get a caller is somewhere from 120-200 PHP. There are not that many position players compared to the Metro. but expect a lot of playmakers at the Masters.
Note: there is also a huge difference in follow-up bets at each poker room. as we want to write more on the action and not the game play. We would definitely write about it very soon.
Lucky Sen Poker
Although 20-40 is available at Lucky Sen Poker. it is not a regular table there. their regular tables are actually on the 50-100 side.
It was kinda difficult to write about it as 20-40, 25/50 but in reality, the smallest blinds of a room can change depending on the room itself.
Definitely, the games at Lucky Sen Poker are soft. it is not action-packed but it is soft.
The poker room at the Pink Casino
Battle of the tightest players in the room.
The good thing about this room is that, Yes, they do have regular games starting from 25-50 up to 100-200.
But since there is a bad beat jackpot in the room. There are actually a lot more players who are playing for the bad beat and being as tight as possible.
There is also the issue of the dealers as the poker rooms do not have enough dealers allocated to them thus they favor the higher blinds first.
The poker room at The Resort World
In reality, the action at Resort world is much much better compared to the poker room at the pink casino.
The minimum blinds at RW are 50-100 and the bad beat is already at 2.5 million PHP on the last time we check.
The big difference is the regular players. A lot of the regular players at Resort World are more caller than the other poker room.
Another factor that should be considered is that there are a lot more amenities and other stuff available in the Resort world. There are more places to eat at Resort world and to enjoy. Fishes are not really after the game and more likely want to pass time more than winning. Having more amenities attracts more fishes.
The Big games!
In regards to big games. this is where the difference starts to happen.
Poker rooms inside a casino and poker rooms outside a casino have their own advantages and disadvantages.
Poker rooms inside a casino have the advantage of as the room is located inside a casino. A few players do feel safer and there are a lot of gamblers who would jump in the poker felt just to pass time.
But on the other hand, assuming you are a big poker player. if you want to eat. they will give you a menu. That is pretty much it.
So action is definitely going to the poker houses! this is where the big games really are.
End of the day. most players and fishes want to be treated special. But as we have mentioned earlier that if you are in a poker room inside a casino, the best they can offer is a menu and you have to pay for your order.
While poker houses can offer players even food they prefer to eat outside for free or on a certain budget.
In this category, two rooms are definitely on the top of the list. It is also the battle who has the better host.
Lucky Sen Poker
Lucky sen poker rules Malate big games. the big game there is the 100-200-500 which is now run by the host Tina.
She is quite professional in her job and would do her best to accommodate any big players. She is quite honest about the line-up and hence why the game there remained to be good.
Last night blind 100-200-500 was quite heavy with action as the foreign Asian players were making the pot heavy with 5k-15k raise preflop almost in every hand. while the regular high stake players there are not shy to answer the call.
Some of the big names in the local poker industry have been playing there.
Metro Card Club
For Metro Card Club. Geneva the Lady to look for.
The great thing about Geneva and the VIP at the Metro Card Club are how they maintain the game.
They would reasonably start it with a good starting stack where the players would buy in at a certain range.
They are not too shy with mixing their games or maintaining it at a lower level and not forcing a higher blind so that the game could last longer.
If they believed that the 100-200 would be better for the game. they will not be eager to push it to 100-200-500. While it would be the exact opposite in other poker rooms.
Hence when it is their VIP games. the action is maintained quite well as they too understand the ranges of their players and their needs.
Poker houses strike back!
Yes, in terms of big tournaments. nothing can beat the poker rooms inside the casino. they can do high buy-ins tournaments and have foreigners come in.
But in terms of the cash game scenes. definitely, the games are much better in the poker houses.
And as of now. the cash games are what matters until live tournaments are fully back
