It is sad really that sometimes what is recorded is only the champion. It seldom tells the story of how they became the champion of the event.

The final 8 was composed of some of the toughest opponents on the felt.

We believed that APPT Main second place winner – Thijs Hilberts was in the final 8. We also saw The giant and regular high stake cash game player, Enrico de Rosa, as well.

It was an even field on the final 8 of local and foreign players. but in the end, the best Filipino poker player took it down.

Mike Takayama – Champion!

The biggest threat on the felt and currently the best Filipino poker player. He is the only Philippine-born WSOP bracelet holder and APOY Champion.

So when he wants something, he gets it!

Declaring that if he did not become the champion of this event he would quit poker. He proved that there is no one like Mike Takayama as he fought his way to the top.

He entered late, but he still came out on top.

Although he has yet to qualify for the main event. (bubbling day 1). No doubt that he is the player that is most feared in the main.

But before that. he just bagged another trophy.

Edgar Asehan – 2nd place!

The warm-up champion Finished second place. It was a serious fight between the two friends as both wanted the win.

As most would question it.

Mike Takayama already has too many trophies on his collection. Trophies that don’t rust. The trophy was not worth anything to him and Edgar would not want a trophy handed down. He wants to earn it and win it.

As two have different play styles. it was a battle. the other players were just casualties between the two.

The Best player in PH and the up-and-coming superstar.

The new dynamic duo will definitely make bigger wins this 2022.
