The Blacklist – Z Frenchman
Publish date: January 27, 2022

Hey, poker playas!

Continuing with our series of the blacklist. players who are good either online or cash game but barely get noticed.

They are great players, but just not in tournaments.

And for today, we have a great topic

Z Frenchman

The Frenchman is a regular poker player that is playing the big cash games in Manila. Of course, as the name implies. He came from France and made the Philippines his home.

The inspiring story about this guy literally started small and climb his way up.

People think that only tournaments can help you go up. Not this guy. He built his bankroll up and many local poker players fears him and started banning them from their games because of his win rate.

Who is he and how did he start? We did our best to compile all the information available and this is the story.

How it began

From what we have gathered from his friends and those who know him. Z Frenchman started as a dealer at the tender age of 16 in some underground poker room back in his country.

He did it to make a living and it was popular back then. He saved his money and tried to play but was not that good.

He heard stories about the Philippines and was quite intrigued with the country.

Although, he was playing here and there. He was not that good and was barely making any money.

Maybe he was looking for the love of his life or maybe he wanted to find a new adventure. but he decided after playing in his country for so long. He would venture out and seek his own destiny.

And when he reached 23, he decided to go to Manila and try his luck there.

Manila

Reaching Manila, poker was still young back then and the big casinos have not arrived.

He also did not have huge money, to begin with. So to make ends meet, he started playing the smallest local blinds first. The 10-20 PHP. He was starting from the ground level. That all he could afford.

Take note, back then 25-50 blinds were considered as the big blind and you are already treated like a VIP. Nowadays the 25-50 is usually the smallest blinds.

Poker was the way to make a living for him. it was his life.

Any advantage is important. And he used it and became a house player in the old poker room in the Hyatt.

And when that gig was over. He started looking for good games and he survived.

Now!

Z Frenchman plays the biggest blinds in Manila. But the great thing about this guy is that if you were to see him now. You would never think he is such a player.

That is because he dresses so casually like a local, with No fancy watch, just plain slippers, t-shirts, and shorts. He used to carry a cheap backpack although he has bought a newer one. Everything about him is so plain that you would think he is a cheap backpacker from Europe.

And yet if there a 500-1000 PHP blind he would gladly sit.

How tough is he? hell, he has been banned by some groups from playing as he is just that great.

But Z Frenchman should be an inspiration to other players. Players would often attribute his skills due to him being a foreigner. but in reality, he built his skill here.

He did not win a big tournament so he had a good bankroll, not a big backer but just plain hard work.

Do you know Z Frenchman?

Stay safe poker playas!
