The Blacklist – “Ang Hari ng Pinya”
Publish date: January 24, 2022

Hey, poker playas!

As we have written in a previous article. there are players whose achievements are never known because either it’s a cash game or online.

Thankfully we get to know about them and verify it with our sources.

For today we would discussed about the Pineapple king or “Hari ng Pinya”

To know more about it, click here

“Pinya”

“Pinya” is the Filipino word for Pineapple. which refers to a game OFC. Open-face Chinese pokerOFCP, commonly known as Open Face Chinese or OFC, is a variant of Chinese poker where players receive five cards to start and then one card at a time until each player has a 13 card hand legal or not.

A variant to it is also called the Pineapple Open Face Chinese poker (POFC) — For a maximum of three players. Each player is dealt five cards to start. Instead of being dealt one at a time players are dealt three cards at a time. Players set two cards and discards one until 13 card hands are made. If a player achieves fantasyland the player receives 14 cards and discard one. Traditional OFC rules apply to enter fantasyland. Some players suggest AA+ as a minimum requirement. To remain in fantasyland requires three of a kind on top and/or four of a kind or better on the bottom. Full house in the middle does not qualify.

A variation of a variation that took the Asian poker scene.

Before the pandemic, the game really became a hit in Asia. The money is based on points depending on the hand ranking.

So if the blinds are like 1 USD, You and your opponent will match points and the remaining points will be the amount to be paid.

For example, your total points are 8, but your opponent has a total of 15. You will have to pay 7 USD.

Fantasy

Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy Caught in a landside, No escape from reality

Bohemian Rhapsody – Queen

One of the most exciting parts of POFC is fantasy. iI you have a pair of queens minimum and did not fault on the top. You get 13 cards at once. Sometimes you get more cards depending on the pair and the agreement.

And you can keep being in fantasy if you hit a royal flush or strait flush depending on the agreement.

It is a bonus round that is a killer.

“Ang Hari ng Pinya”

Back when it was hot, there was one player who was winning massively in this game. He was playing from 500 PHP or 10 USD a point to 1,000 PHP or 20 USD a point.

Some reports say he has played higher. But safe to say we have confirmed he has played regularly in a Korean poker site 1,000 PHP a point and has earned quite well.

Normally, the buy-ins for this game are from 100,000 to 500,000 PHP.

And one guy was quite happy to take their money away.

But who is the “Ang Hari ng Pinya”

We still know so little of him, to be quite honest. What we knew is he was discovered by one of the kings of poker in the Philippines Dave Spade.

A virtual unknown as his record on his live tournaments was so little. But already back then he had the guts to play the game but was only limited to 50-100 PHP but that was due to the limited amount of players he could play with.

But Dave Spade is not one the King of poker in the Philippines without reason. He saw the talent and found a nice little online playground for him. And because of that, he was able to play to his heart content and started getting big money.

Due to the pandemic and the attraction for playing OFC. We have not heard News about where the “Hari ng Pinya” is up to these days.

But for a while. There was a player who really got the best out of that Korean poker site.

Do you know him?

Stay safe poker playas!
