Okada Manila Millions Day 5
Publish date: January 8, 2022

Hey, poker playas!

The big 3 did it again! each shining differently. although Mike Takayama did make an appearance. He slept early in order to fight today and he did FT every day since the start of the event.

So letting one day go for the battle of the main is a good idea. In his absence from the scene. It was the other emperors that blasted the scene.

Here is what happened.

The Main event

Lester Edoc was relatively quiet during his climb to the ITM. He just maintained a healthy stack and try to breeze through the main event.

But it was on the latter part he suddenly started grabbing some chips. Busting one player after another.

Even his pocket 5 was unbeatable against pocket 10 as he would hit his set easily.

He just knew that it was his time after waiting for so long and he would simply move the right way.

Rodrigo Sequite and Michael Bueza also qualified for day 2 of the main event.

Only 10 players qualified for this day. could there be a possible overlay or would there be enough players to reach the pot? stay tuned.

Event 11 – The PHP 20,000 NLH shot clock

There is a funny story behind this event that we would write about.

Eventually, it is Flo Campomanes, The first Filipino to ever win the APPT Main event and the Red Dragon Event that came out on top.

Here is the story.

Alan Tsang was the favored to win as he is a known online grinder and has taken quite a number of wins online.

As predicted. Alan beat all 3 players. but the problem was it was still an early level. the Registration has not closed.

As with the organizers’ rules. they have an allocated time for the last call. but one player registered and then another one was also on the way.

Event 7 side event winner Edgar Asehan decided to jump in and try to take it home. Flo also came in and it became a battle of 3.

Alan Tsang may have chip lead as he has busted out 2 players. but These guys are here for business.

These guys are champions.

So the clock started where it left off.

Iori Yogo, busting out of the main event decided to also jump in and join in the fun. Iori Yogo is an APT player of the year winner. He is a champion.

A Chinese player also joined in the fun.

But after qualifying for day 2. Lester Edoc also joined in on the fray!

Christopher “Big time” Mateo, An APT Champion also joined in on the fun.

So what look like a fun and easy table for Alan Tsang at the beginning of the tournament to win some money and grab a trophy became a table full of champions!

Edgar Asehan was definitely the star during the midpoint of the game as he became the terminator eliminating players left and right. Until there were only 4 left.

It was now a battle between Edgar Asehan who has now gained a lot of chips, Flo Campomanes, Chris big time, and Alan Tsang.

The battle continued but It became a battle between Chris “BigTime” Mateo and Flo Campomanes as they were the ones that were mostly battling the pot.

Chris would gain some chips from Flo and Flo on the next hand gain it back. It was a tug of war between the two.

But in the end, it was Flo who won in their many little battles busting Chris “big time” in the process.

Then there were 3.

Now it was a battle of 3 and neither was giving an inch, until one hand where Flo was able to win from Edgar Asehan quite a considerable amount of chips.

Edgar was crippled but tried to gain it back but in the end, he too was busted.

Flo now has the upper hand against Alan Tsang.

An ICM chop was proposed but the trophy was not included. It would be a battle for the trophy.

Even we were curious because maybe Alan Tsang thought that Flo would make it easier for him to win the trophy if there was no money involved. After all, Flo has won the Red Dragon and the APPT, those trophies were beautiful and the little and cute trophy for this event might not interest Flo at all

Nope if you want the trophy against, Flo you have to win against Flo.

It was a long battle as there are times when Alan Tsang was showing he shoved with 7 2 off maybe to break Flo concentration and even proposed that if a player bluff with 7 2 that player must show his hand.

But nope, Flo kept his composure throughout the game.

Again we are merely speculating what could be on Alan Tsang’s mind and to be honest it was the right move. You need to find an advantage in the game called poker and against a seasoned pro. You need all the advantages you can get.

But Alan Tsang is no pushover either as he had deep runs in some live main events but he has won more online events than live.

And then there is lady luck, Yes, It would be foolish to deny that lady was on Flo’s side as there were times Alan was ahead but luck would bless Flo. Having luck is also a skill.

Still, it was a long battle of wits, patience, and skills.

And Florencio Campomanes came out on top.

Congratulations!
