The Master poker Club is one of the original poker rooms that started in Manila. We believe it was either the 3rd or 4th poker room to open in Malate or the 4th or 5th poker room to open in Manila.

When it first opens its doors we believe more than a decade ago. It was one of the only poker rooms in Malate that offered daily stable poker tournaments.

What was great about the Masters was that compared to today where bingo tournaments disguise as poker tournaments. Master Poker Room tournaments were great. 

You normally have 15,000 starting stacks and 15 minutes per level. You really get to enjoy the game. 

It was the place in Malate where you could build your skills. 

Back then they were located in an old house that had two floors. they had more than 15 poker tables and were the place to go to during that time. 

After a few years, they relocated to a smaller space and were more into cash games than anything else.

Fast forward today.

A new team is now leading that poker room and news is that they would expand and have more tables.

The new team is quite well experienced in the market and so far they have done great.

We visited them before Christmas. and the beauty of the Master is still there. Nope of course we are not talking about the decorations but those who know The Master poker room will always know what we mean. 

The game

Imagine a Korean national going no-look – all-n with a 100k stack preflop? It is rare to see that nowadays but it’s actually a common experience in the Master poker Club.

The room was jampacked the other night with 2 tables of 20-40 hold-em, 50-100 hold-em. 100-100 Omaha. 50-50 Badugi and a 100-200-500 hold em.

Although it was a little bit rowdy, the actions were great.

If they would expand to 15 tables and with the new team well verse in tournaments in charge. They might become that poker room where tournament players may feel welcome.

Of course, we just have to wait and see.

If you are wondering if the actions are that great? Some of the well-known poker pros have been spotted in the room playing the big games.

The Master poker club has been in the industry for more than a decade. So it would be nice to see it become great again.

But it is a room to look forward to in 2022
