Haloween is coming, and as we have been featuring the top horror movies. We wanted to write about the top 10 horror movies in the Philippines.
But there are so many things to write. so it’s better to write more about it. here we go.
Top horror movies of the Philippines.
Okay, first of all, movie-making has gone a long way ever since it started. images are sharper, there are also CGI that can enhance the movie. So comparing movies especially old movies that were not kept in favorable conditions will of course affect the rating.
Most new fans would argue that the top horror movies in the Philippines would be
- The Road
- Fengshui
- Eerie
- Sukob
- Seklusyon
Fengshui is worth mentioning since it was launched in 2014. it was the time when today’s generation was still young. Hence it would probably come out on top of a lot of the current lists.
It really depends on the generation you were born, we are more easily scared of course when we were still young. The older generation would have a different list.
Tyanak, Halimaw sa Banga, would be samples of the old generation.
What Fengshui did the bagua is what Halimaw sa Banga did to the banga (big urns). Children’s back then were scared of big urns
Of course, people were also scared of refrigerators because of one
And then there is Regal film.
Regal Films
Regal Entertainment, Inc. (formerly and more commonly known as Regal Films) is a Philippine film production company based in Pasig City. It was founded by Lily Monteverde in 1962. It has produced movies of all genres; and is the oldest surviving movie studio in the Philippines.
They made The Shake, Rattle & Roll film series is a Filipino horror anthology film series, dating back to 1984. Most films in the series were produced by Regal Films. All films of the series were official entries for the Metro Manila Film Festival, with the exception of the sixth installment, which premiered in January 1997 The title is solely based on the song of the same name.it 3 short stories in one movie that made it great.
The first is definitely a classic. the first story was about someone playing spirit of the glass. the second one is a man-eating refrigerator and the third is against a local female vampire (Mananangal).

A lot of their films are considered now classics. and to top it off. they even produce a tv series.

Magandang gabi Bayan
The program began on August 21, 1988, with its first anchor Kabayan (transl. compatriot or fellow countryman) Noli de Castro. The program’s aim is to expose the illegalities of some Philippine government officials as well as to render public service to the Filipinos. It continues to hold the title for the leading and longest public service program in the Philippines.
The program was styled in the lines of U.S. news magazine programs 60 Minutes and Dateline. The program was also known for its famous Halloween/All Saints’ Day (Undas) specials featuring various horror stories from in and around the Philippines.

Although many others tried to replace MGB after it has closed down. Like KMJS.
But those Halloween specials are part of the Philippine culture.
