GCQ level 3 and a new poker room.
Publish date: October 14, 2021

Hey, poker players!

Metro Manila is now on GCQ alert level 3 and curfew has been ease more.

For the first time since the pandemic began, cinemas and theaters are allowed to re-open.

read on for more info.

Metro Manila will be downgraded to Alert Level 3 from October 16 to 31

Based on guidelines explained by Roque in past press conferences, Alert Level 3 means that most business establishments, facilities, and services are allowed to open at varying degrees.

Cinemas, theaters, theme parks, swimming pools, libraries, museums, and other tourist attractions, venues for social gatherings like weddings, parties, and debuts will be allowed for the first time in over a year, under Alert Level 3.

These establishments may accommodate up to 30% of their indoor venue capacity, but only for fully vaccinated persons. Outdoor areas of these establishments can take up to 50% of its capacity.

All employees of the establishments above must also be fully-vaccinated.
Limited in-person classes for higher education and technical-vocational training are also allowed under this alert level.

Rumor abuzz on a new poker room in Malate.

A new poker room is rumored to open soon. although the question now is how will it do.

Currently, legal poker rooms in Manila are still applying different health protocols for the players’ safety. So the question, if there is an actual standard, is left in the air.

Metrocard club is the strictest which is a good thing. Players must be fully vaccinated or present proof of a recent rt-PCR test to play. even if this is submitted. barriers are still present and a facemask and face shield is still mandatory.

Resort world poker rooms have no barriers and no need to present any proof of vaccination or test and have no barriers. but they now have been strict on enforcing face shields and face masks.

Live tournaments.

This remains to be a big question. Currently, poker rooms are not doing great. the average table per room would probably be 3-4 tables.

When it comes to tournaments. Which is a good way to attract players.

but before the pandemic, one poker room that have shut down has proven it might not be that good.

Imagine holding 100k- 200k PHP GTD tournaments (2k-4k USD) free entry but in the end, the room actually had to stake players just so people would come. (Supply the rebuy/addon).

The tournament must have a guarantee to attract players, but what guarantee is enough and how low should the buy-in be so that players would actually want to travel especially during this pandemic.

Then what is the comfort level of the poker room? they have not operated for many months and yet they had cost.

Risking will not be easy.

but it is time to move forward. and with the new room. Who knows if the new room could be the key to attract new players?

let wait and see..
