With so many things happening in the world. Why don’t we talk about a guy who actually made a big impact in the poker world?
Although some are not familiar with who he is as he had kept a low-key personality. He is a man who deserved respect.
Starting as a simple waiter from one of the clubs in Manila. A man who has not forgotten his roots even when he is the man behind the biggest poker union in the Philippines.
a true rags to riches story who is still down to earth and has not let fame or fortune go to his head.
We have a nice interview with the man and here it is.
PCA: What has kept Monching Talisayon busy these days.
I’m still the same person I use to be. dami nga lang pinagkakaabalahan. yun naman ang buhay. dapat laging tulak ng tulak. but humble pa din.
(I am still the same man I used to be. I’ve just been busy lately, that is life. you just have to keep pushing but stay humble.)
PCA: Do you still love poker.
Mahal na mahal ko ang poker. dito ako lumaki eh. eto yung nagbukas ng daan sa akin para marating ko kinalalagyan ko ngayon. I will always love poker.
(I really love poker. This was my big break. poker is the one that opens the doors for me to be here where I am now. I will always love poker.)
PCA: How is Pinoydonks doing nowadays especially when there is much competition.
Andun pa din kami and we are still growing strong. yung mga kasama naman namin di kami iniiwan. And dami namin nilalabas na mga ibat ibang promo. maski na naglalabas ng ibat ibang promo kalaban. Minamaintain lang namin ginagawa namin at naniniwala pa din tao sa amin.
(we are still here and growing. our true partners have never left us. We have been launching new stuff. Even if our competition launching their own promos. we are still maintaining what we are doing and our players still believe in us.)
PCA: There have been a lot of people saying PP Poker is full of bots. what do you have to say about that?
Ang problema kasi, minsan pag natalo ang isang tao. sinasabi agad nila bot ang kalaban. We have to be fair sa mga tao. building a club and joining Pinoydonks is not easy. kailangan maglalagay pa sila ng bond din para sumali. Hindi naman pwede porket nagrereklamo isang player isara na namin club. Kami mismo gumagastos kami para siguraduhin malinis laro. kailangan kasi imonitor mo ng buo. Marami na kaming club na tinangal pag nahuli namin sila. at yung bond. forfeited and binabalik namin sa mga players ang pera.

PCA: You remove clubs from your union?
Yun nga eh, pero di nababalitaan yan. December 2019 before pandemic. binantayan namin isang club. nung daming nagrerereklamo minomonitor na namin. until we made a decision to close them. forfeited bond nila and we held a party in Cove Manila, all members were invited. Ang gaming pumunta, alam naman nila ginawa namin. If totoong inaalow namin to. bakit ang dami pang mga malalaking player nagtitiwala sa amin? lalo na nung pandemic. If agents need help. tumutulong kami.

PCA: You help your agents?
Yeah, nung una maluwag kami. problema dami na umaabasu kaya nagdecided kami na if agent ka. idaan mo muna sa club. pero handa pa din kaming tumulong.

PCA: What is your point of view on the current situation of poker in the Philippines.
I think kailangan bumuo na parang council ang mga club owners maski anong app ka pa. kasi gagagawa kami ng tournament na 500k guaranteed. tapos and gagawin ng kalaban eh same guarantee mas mababa buy-in. problema di naman natatalo ang club eh. ang mga agents natatatalo. kumikita pa din mga club. para sa akin dapat naguusap usap pa din mga union ng ibat ibang app. kumikita ka ngayon pero pagtumagal lahat naman namamatay, kailngan din natin tingnan yung longterm.

PCA: You actually care about the agents and players?
nangaling din ako sa wala eh. nagsimula ako waiter. alam ko din naman gaano kahirap ang buhay eh. kaya nga naapreciate ko yung mga agents kasi nangaling din ako dun. mahirap talaga magsimula lalo na ngayon. pero dapat isipin din natin yung mga tao. yung mga agents din. marami na akong tinulungan na players din. Meron nga kami promo na hanapin nyo ako at iphoto nyo ako kikita na kayo. Problema may umaabuso. but if deserving people needs help. tutulong ako.

PCA: Do you have any messages for the players now?
Stay strong lang. basta magsipag kayo darating din oras nyo. Pinoydonks will continue giving good promos and tournaments. because sama sama tayo.
