The Malate Poker house War
Publish date: September 16, 2021

Hey, Poker playas!

So far there have been no updates if poker rooms will re-open in Manila. Since it’s Thursday, so we have a throwback special.

Yeah, we admit we don’t know how much we can write about it today or how many parts this would be. But its nice to revisit the past and how poker rooms have built themselves when it was beginning.

Somewhat how it all began

The beginning of this story would be before the Master’s poker room open. Prior to Master opening. The two rooms were comfortable with each other. On one side you have the Players den, which was usually a cash game and rarely held any tournaments. then there was GHL. A poker room on the first floor of the Ambassador hotel.

We estimate this to be more than 10 years ago.

There was really no competition. both have their own market and they were actually happy.

But what was it like?

The Players Den.

The Players Den did go through a lot of changes. when we first visited them the poker room was on the second floor. later on, it was transferred to the first floor. but they did expand where the third floor was for tournaments.

It had this modern appeal but was not that elegant.

The only thing memorable with them was they had this tall Floor manager that was beautiful.

Players den was all about the game.

GHL

Located on the first floor of the Ambassador hotel. Ambassador hotel was old already by that time. Although it still stands. It was an old hotel.

What the poker room lack in modern design was made up with its service. They probably had the friendliest staff and was mainly relying on Public relation to get the players. The dealers were well trained and could deal with various games.

Before the opening of the Master poker room.

before the opening of the master, their people were active. going to each room promising they would have big games. their flyers actually carried the tournament schedule.

They were going to open with a bang.

to give you an idea of how far apart the poker rooms were. it was less than 300 meters from each other. walking from one end of the local casino to another might actually be even farther.

The once quiet scene will now be rock by a new poker house. promising big games and big tournaments.

They open with a bang.

On the day of the opening, you go through this big wooden door, on your left was a full bar. Although the house was old. it was probably an old bar-restaurant when they took them over. There was a piano man playing and a singer on the small stage.

The receptionists had elegant dresses and they were beautiful.

There were private rooms upstairs for big games. each room was assigned for the blinds.

The bar was filled with various drinks.

This was the beginning of the war.

We have to go for part 2.

Our plan is to write the story until the 300k GTD of GHL. just writing the scene already took this long.

We would cover the first 1 million guaranteed of the Masters. and then the GHL 300k GTD.

time to end this one and start on part 2
