Hey, poker players!

It is Tuesday once again and time to share some poker tips with poker players.

There has been a trend lately on the table where players are not as attentive as they should be on the poker table.

Missing a lot of edge in the process.

You must learn how to use the poker force to your benefit.

Why is it important

Learning to spot who are the players who are attentive on the table, and whose not really can be an advantage.

They simply just play with their hand.

one sure sign of this was when a player overbet not realizing the opponent is the short stack.

Like a player would bluff and bet 500, and his opponent has 100 left and already poured 90% of his chips on the pot. You can not really expect them to fold right?

or another instance where a player reveals their card too early when the opponent has not made a call.

Sometimes players are already advertising their tells and yet players have yet to notice it. 

A funny story.

A few years back one of our staff shared this story. Where it actually has many examples of the lack of table awareness. 

A cancelled meeting that push trough

a few years back, We had a scheduled meeting in BGC. However, initially, we believed the meeting was canceled. As it was still too early, we decided to play a little tournament in a poker room in Ortigas.

 

While playing, I announced I have to leave for an appointment. at first, I did a blind All in. as luck would have it. all 3 won.

 

instead of blind all-in. it was a blind raise preflop. but that did not go so well.

 

First hand, I blind raise. one player called. the hand I got was K2 off. on the flop was 2QJ. the player bet. call. turn player bets I call. River. player bets I call.

 

Next hand blind raise. 4 players called. on the board of 10 8 6 off. 3 players all-in. as luck would have it i got pocket aces. it held.

 

as the meeting would push through we decided to leave the chips behind and attend the meeting. We drank and discussed things. but as we are on the way home. we receive a phone call from the floor. as we are now near the poker room in Ortigas again.

 

“Are you coming back? it is now the final table. and you are still in.”

 

Okay. so we reach the poker room just before the final table started. the end of the story was chop 3 way.

The story of how that chip got into the final table is funny. any player who hit anything good during the blind raise phase would have easily won the chips. 

On the four-way all-in. Although our contributor was in the hand and it would have been nice to steal the chip. but moving all-in, when there are other people behind, is dangerous. 

Lastly, on the bubble phase especially on a daily tournament. blinds are quite fast. it would have been easy to hit the final table and just allow the missing player to be blinded out.

but one of the player there who was actually inattentive was the one that tried to bluff. no matter what. the player would have called.

Even recently we have seen players trying to bluff calling stations. its a calling station.

We should be aware of what is happening on the felt. It can mean a lot especially in tournaments.
