Jedi Mind trick – how to use mentalism in poker
Publish date: August 22, 2021

Hey, poker playas!

The Force can have a powerful effect on the weak-minded, a phenomenon Jedi sometimes take advantage of in pursuing their missions. An experienced Jedi can use the Force to implant a suggestion in the minds of those they encounter, encouraging them to comply with the Jedi’s wishes.

How many players wish they could have such power right?

But actually, you can!

Understanding the force

What is the force? The Force is a metaphysical and ubiquitous power in the Star Wars fictional universe. It is manipulated by “Force-sensitive” characters throughout the Starwars franchise.

An invisible power that we can use to help achieve our goal.

But we do have that.

You are bombarded with information that you can use in order to win even before you sit at the table. There is a lot of information you can gather in order to achieve your goal.

But to use the force, you must be force sensitive. And in the case of poker, you have to learn to watch a listen.

Making the players fold

Every action on the table is valuable. That is why it is actually better to play games where money matters the most.

A lot of people lose money because they are not paying attention.

Your bet/raise is an advertisement for players to call or fold.

Let just say you have a premium hand on the button. a few players called the big blind. What will be your raise?

We have heard many complaints by people on how they have raised 3x the big blind and an idiot called with a trash card off.

Most of the time it is you who have not paid attention.

The point of a raise is to scare players off if you have a premium hand. you want to protect it, but at the same time, you do not want to scare all people off.

Here are the things most players miss.

  • What blinds are you playing? a 3x or 4x raise in the smallest game of the poker room and the next blind after the lowest means a lot of difference.
  • Who are the players? Let us admit that there are a lot of gamblers especially on the lower blinds.
  • What is the comfort level? what is the amount that they are comfortable calling.
  • What is there behind? Will they be pot committed with your bet? are there any short stacks on the table?
  • Are there any promotions? Promotions like if you hit quads or straight flush on the flop you can get a bonus will also change the dynamics of a player.

On the flop

Here is another example, The players have changed over the years. more players value bet now than 10 years ago. 10 years ago. if the player did not hit anything even if they are the raiser pre-flop. they check. although most people still do it now.

This is already information. Are you playing against passive players or aggressive players?

Next, if this is an aggressive player. sometimes This is a very common mistake we have notice. There are a lot of aggressive players that would bet a certain amount. example in a 25-50 game.

Below 150 – value bet.
150-200 – top pair.
200 above – good card.
(Again depending on the blinds you are playing and what type of player you are against with)

Now that you have an idea what his hand is. it is time to use the force. you can raise his bet.

Let say he bet 125. You wanted to steal the pot. Knowing the limit of the players is important.

Let us say you want him to come in. the question is if you know your opponent. What is that maximum bet you can put that would make him call and try to buy his draw?

It is all out there. There is so much information out there that you can use for you benefit.

As they say in Starwars.

The force is all around you, be one with the force
