Hey, poker playas!
We may still be in lockdown for a few more weeks. That being said. Do you want to build your own club?
Whether you are looking for a way to earn money or just connect with your friends. building a club have its good and bad side.
Here is a quick guide to help you build a club.
Technicalities
A lot of the things that you need to maintain in a club uses diamonds instead of chips. These are the very first things you have to understand. How much do diamonds cost? Depending on the app, the normal rate is around. 50 PHP for 60 diamonds. However, it becomes cheaper when you buy in bulk.
As apps might have different technicalities. We would solely focus on UPoker.
It is free to make a club at UPoker. To maintain a club is a different matter altogether. The higher the club level the costlier it gets.
Example
At club level 0 with maximum of 20 players – free
However. when you wish to add more players to your club. You must increase your club level.
When you begin tho. you need to have chips. You can buy chips using diamonds. the rate is usually from 1:5 to 1:15.
Pros and cons of building your own club.
As it is your own club, you have more freedom to set the rules. banning players and stuff is within a club’s power. What you allow in your club is definitely up to you as the club owner.
You can also have the best rake.
However, running your own club also means that maintenance is promotion are up to you.
As such if you want to do it as a business. Then you have to understand that it is your business.
Unions
Alright, you want to do this but do not want to risk overlay on tournaments as promotions. You can join a Union.
A union is like a big club and clubs are like players. By joining a union, you have a far bigger pool than you should have. instead of sponsoring your own tournament. you can instead piggyback on a union’s tournament.
Of course, joining a union will incur fees. but that is dependent on how much the union will charge you.
Should you make one?
That all depends on what is your motivation to make a club.
As we are working with Pokerista in helping them build their club. We can share the good things and bad things about making a club.
The number one thing is that it is a commitment. If you want to do this whether for fun or money. It is a commitment.
The second thing is what is your vision?
When we built Pokerista. it was a vision and a decision to create something new and to give people chances.
That being said. Pokerista has organized 3 satellites at a loss but because its vision is to give chances to Filipinos to play the big tournaments.
Right now, if you go to the local clubs. they simply can’t organize big GTD but that is because the player’s pool is small.
Pokerista does not yet hold regular cash games. in fact, it is easy to get bots to play cash games and win in the process. Pokerista also has a great lineup. But it is letting the group grow first.
It chose to retain its idealogy and protect players rather than earn quick money.
If you want to ask more questions. just visit them at their Facebook group.
Pokerista of course wants to be big someday. but it chose to protect the players.
Why is this important? understand a vision is a direction of where the union or club would go to.
What is the point of getting massive rake backs when the union head allows a bot that clean your players out? in the end, you would lose players. Yes, you could earn temporarily. but in the long run, you would lose out.
It is not going to be an easy ride.
There is so much competition out there right now. but remember the market is still untapped. The total players that play both live and online have not reached 1% of the population.
Facts, although the market is saturated as other claims. the last tournament of Pokerista got 60 players. a lot of them only played poker for the first time. The market is still huge.
But things have to change. so it is either you wish to become a part of the change or earn quick money.
In the end. the main focus should not be money but the vision of what you want your club to be and who you partner with.
Stay safe poker playas!
