Change is a powerful thing. Sometimes it may take time. but taking the first step is all that you need to do.
That is why we are sharing some old stories.
Sometimes it is not about the chances you get. but the chances you make use of.
Often times when we cover events, it gives us a chance to talk to people and hear their stories.
We would like to share some of the stories that we have seen throughout the years.

Hista (Part 1)
The first meeting
It was more than a decade ago when poker started to grow in the Philippines. There was the casino near the airport which was the first one that operated. A poker house somewhere in Ortigas and then there were two more in Malate.
Years ago, we visited the poker room in Malate We have met this guy a few years back. When we first met him, he was neatly dressed like those old action stars from the movies. He wore a cap and always carry a pouch. He was not a tall man but was well built. To hid his identity. we would call him Hista.
Probably because he was a small man. He made sure he was noticed by the people. He would oftentimes try to talk to anyone who would listen to him.
The way he talks was quite interesting. He would claim he knows all the big players and how good he was in poker. Even to this date, he would be eager to tell you who is who and how he is connected to a guy.
He would even tell people how to play a hand correctly if it was him.
Oftentimes our conversation was quite short. But he did make an impact back then. Was he really that big in poker?

The next meeting and the truth.
It took us a while to go back to the room. and poker was growing. More players are playing the game and news of new poker houses will be built.
He was there in his outfit and was telling his stories again to the new players. As we have plenty of time, we sat and observed.
While playing on the table. someone called him and swiftly he came.
Neatly dressed and all tucked in, A player on the table spoke to him and he told the player that he needs to get his pouch first Swiftly he ran.
We were wondering to ourselves “was this guy a financer? is he really that big?”
Walking proudly even as he was a short man. he placed his pouch on the table. and began to take his short-sleeve shirt off leaving his sando.
We were thinking back then “Is this guy really a top-class player and he was called to beat the players on the table?”
The player that called him stood up. Reposition his chair and sat down.
And Hista began massaging the player.
Oh……..
