Publish date: July 27, 2021

Hey, poker playas!

It has been raining a lot this past few days in Manila, but do not let the rain bring you down. remember no matter how hard the rain falls. it will end and the sun will always shine.

here is this week’s recap and what to expect this week.

Heavy rains due to the southwest monsoon

The southwest monsoon or hanging habagat was again bringing intense rain to parts of Luzon, including some areas in Metro Manila the last few days.

Typhoon Fabian made its exit over a week after it formed inside PAR on the morning of July 16. Typhoon Fabian help enhance the southwest monsoon.

It is forecasted the week will have continuous rain and thunderstorm.

Earthquake – July 24, 2021

A magnitude 6.6 earthquake struck some 16 kilometers southwest of Calatagan, Batangas, on Saturday morning, July 24.

The earthquake, which struck at around 4:49 am, was tectonic in origin with a depth of 116 kilometers, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

Phivolcs Director Renato Solidum explained at the Laging Handa briefing on Saturday that the quake was due to the movement of the Manila Trench and has nothing to do with the activity of Taal volcano.

Delta Variant – more cases in PH

The Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday, July 24, reported 17 new cases of the highly infectious COVID-19 Delta variant, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 64.

The DOH identified 12 new local cases, one of them a returning overseas Filipino, while the rest are still being verified.

Of the local cases, nine had addresses in Metro Manila and three in Calabarzon.

Fourteen are recovered cases, while the other three are active cases.

GCQ with heightened restrictions

On Thursday, July 23, the government placed Metro Manila under general community quarantine with heightened restrictions until July 31. The announcement came after the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed the local transmission of the feared Delta variant.

Curfew back

The Metro Manila Council has reimposed longer curfew hours in the National Capital Region, or from 10 pm to 4 am, starting Sunday, July 25.

This MMC made the decision after the national government placed the capital region under stricter restrictions amid a spike in COVID-19 cases and the confirmation of local transmission of the Delta variant in the country.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said all 17 mayors in Metro Manila agreed to adjust the curfew hours and released MMDA Resolution No. 21-13 Series of 2021 to control the transmission of the highly infectious Delta variant.

Moving forward – hope and chances

No matter how hard it rains. The sun will always shine.

That being said, there are a lot of online tournaments available for poker players.

You don’t have a bankroll. you can easily join our group Pokerista. Pokerista is a community whose aim is to give chances and help new players out.

We would have many give-ways exclusive to Pokerista members only. We are not openly advertising the group as our aim is not to just make you play. but it is to help guide you to become a good poker player.

Our projects are and will be for new players. As shared by one of the admins.

There are people who would say the market is saturated. That is not true, we have not yet tap 1% of the population of the nation. Sharing a little story here.

We spoke to one person who usually hangs out in the poker room. He is quite dependent on hands out. But when offered the chance of a free entry tournament. we were met with a number of reasons where-in he wanted so much more. That he was more suited to live games and that he wanted the bigger game because that is supposed to be his specialty. but his game is a novice as he tends to let one win enter his head and start bragging on the room.

Then you have the new players or the high-limit players. who unusually would actually join. they see a chance, they see its value. they join.

Our next tournament will be a loss to the group. but due to our resources. we are able to create such events. THere are players out there and new players who could be the next big thing. Pokerista aim is to help them grow.

Wondering if you played your hand correctly? Upoker has a function where you can record your hand and action and share it to pokerista. we will have pros to help guide you play your hand and much more.

Pokerista will have another tournament at 5 pm on July 28, 2021. there will be a cash prize included on the existing ticket for the USOP.
