It has been more than a year since we have last seen a legal Live poker tournament in Manila.
Although there are rumors of tournaments returning to Manila. There are claims that as early as August Live tournaments will be back? but until it happens. it is really difficult to know the real status of tournaments in Manila.
Why do poker players love touranments?
Compared to cash games, more people love tournaments. There are people who would travel just to join a poker tour.
Aside from the money, most tournaments are lucrative in nature. especially if you hit it big. Turning your buy-in into at least a multiple of 100.
Then there is also the competitive nature of the game. becoming the champion. The one that stands on top against all other competitors.
To be the One!
To gain the fame and recognition to becoming a legit champion. There is simply the thrill to become a champion.
Will tournaments be back this year? ( a real look)
Tournaments are vital to revive the poker industry. that is a given fact. Organizers and poker establishments have applied for tournaments as well.
In the end. for Manila, it is up to IATF to decide whether they would allow such a thing.
But currently. rules are getting eased more and more as more people are vaccinated. it is definitely a good sign. It is not normal to see 8-handed tables. There are reports that one poker room does not even bother with barriers anymore.
Next year. The Philippines will hold its national election. Failure to revive the economy will be more disastrous for those who are seeking re-election than the pandemic itself.
Tournaments could really be just right around the corner.
Looking for new poker Heroes? so what up with the title.
A lot of the old heroes are now gone or have started playing in the United States or shited their attention to other games.
The truth is, the local poker industry growth has been stopped and a lot of the local poker heroes you know have either lost their money to online cockfighting and many more.
Why don’t we try to bring the old poker days back?
We are currently working together with some poker leaders to bring good tournaments back to Manila. As such as Live tournaments are not back. It was decided to start small.
The group is called Pokerista. the term use by Filipinos to call someone who plays poker.
The goal is to start building a new poker community and try to help the players. Whether you are new or have run bad due to being addicted to talpak.
It is time to pick up things and move forward.
UPoker has kindly helped us organize a small satellite to their upcoming U series of poker.
As we would prefer to have a good structure and avoid any bingo games. this week we would be holding a special satellite just to test the new structure out.
