Publish date: July 6, 2021

Hey, Poker playas!

If we were to ask you who are the top players of the Philippines. you might think of Tsoke. Edoc or Flo. But names like Reggie, Rellie, and Renato might not be the names you would think. But the GPI PH ranking is way different now from last year.

What happened?

Here are the current Top 10

Number 1 – Reggie Bautista

Number 2 – Rellie Sigua

Number 3 – Mike Takayama

Number 4 – Jospeh Gustilo

Number 5 – Florencio Campomanes

Number 6 – Dave Spade

Number 7  – Richard Marquez

Number 8 – Christopher Mateo

Number 9 – Renato Labadan

Number 10 – Lester Edoc

Who are the new guys?

Countries like the United States started to have live tournaments earlier than their Asian counterparts. Filipino Born or those with Filipino ancestry are Recorded on the GPI as under GPI Philippines. Although the Philippines and most parts of Asia have no tournaments. There are still Pinoys proudly representing the Philippines in other countries.

Entries with recent wins.

Number 1 – Reggie Bautista.

Born in the Philippines but only played in the US since 2014.

He was the first mysterious entry last year as he suddenly pops up in the top 10. We have interviewed him and he is Filipino.

He is a nice guy and is looking forward to coming to the Philippines when the border opens.

Number 2 – Rellie Sigua

We hope to contact him soon and give more details to these mysterious players.

Base on the record he has been playing is 2007

Number 3 – Mike Takayama

Most poker players in the Philippines know Mike Takayama. the first Filipino born to ever win a WSOP bracelet.

But here something interesting. his latest win is actually in South point Casino in the United States. Which is June 28, 2021!

Yes, folks, he is currently in the US and we pray he wins another bracelet.

Number 4 – Joseph Gustilo

We still know so little of Joseph Gustilo. We hope to contact him soon. most of his entries are wins in the United States. but his very first entry in his record is actually in the Philippines

APT – Cebu – 2012
11th place – Deepstack Turbo event 2

Number 9 – Renato Labadan

Renato Labadan was active in the local scene every time he visited Asia. his last Asian win was in 2017.

With tournaments in Asia still unsure. Renato might climb higher in the charts this year.

Missing tournaments?

Tournaments in the Philippines might still take a few months.

Some are estimating it could be early next year while some are expecting this year.

However, there are too many outside factors to consider hence it is hard to predict when will live tournament comes back.

However. online tournaments are still growing. Another online tournament that will begin soon is the USOP.

Fulls schedule will be released soon and alternatives and mega satellite schedule too.

Stay tuned.
