June has ended. which means we are already at the half-year mark of 2021. How have you been holding up?
The Pandemic has slowed down the growth of a lot of things. although there have been fewer events for the year 2021. It has been trying to push forward.
Let us have a look on what are the good things that happened for the past 6 months.
The battle against the pandemic contiues
Although there is a vaccine against the coronavirus. there is also a new variant that has proven to be more infectious.
Originally the race was about to be able to manufacture a vaccine. but now the race has turn into vaccinating enough people before the virus mutates and becomes more virulent.
Thankfully, some of the vaccines have proven to be effective against the coronavirus, and if herd immunity can be established and stop the spread. it could stop the virus from mutating any further.
Countries like the United Stated have also offered to donate more. so hopefully the race for herd immunity wins.
The struggle to stay open
All businesses have been affected by the pandemic. including the poker industry. at the beginning of the year, the outlook was good as poker rooms in Manila had re-opened.
However, it was short-lived, the surge that followed in order to revive the economy force a lot of countries to close their doors once again.
Thankfully, more and more people are getting vaccinated. The 2 big poker rooms in Manila now offer 8 players to play on the table but barriers are still imposed.
It still will be a struggle in the next few months. but it only means we have to adapt.
We can not wait till things go back to normal. We have to move forward.
Online poker is here to stay.
Last March a 20 Million Guaranteed event for only 5,000 PHP was hosted by the Universal grand at Upoker.
Truth is. there will always be bigger online tournaments than live tournaments.
The beauty of being able to play anywhere at the comfort of your home especially when there a pandemic is too hard to resist.
