Improving your game – Removing a defeatist attitude – part 2
Publish date: May 4, 2021

Hey, poker playas!

This is part 2 of the Improving your game – Removing a defeatist attitude series. The reason we are delving into it more is due to that having the right attitude when you play poker is very important.

You can read part 1 here.

Now to continue where we left off.

2. While you are playing and get into a hand, you already believe you will get a bad beat. (continuation)

When we release the first article, we receive some opinions on what we wrote.

– that if it is already all-in on the turn and you are showing to players that you don’t want to be bad beat on the river by your drama. it does not count.

The only reason it does not count is when it is the last hand and you would never play poker ever again. You are basically broadcasting to the players by your drama on how weak as a player you are. As with our example, it might have the opposite effect and other players will hunt you down more. (just to make you cry).

– Why would you not want to have a caller when you are ahead? the drama is only because you do not want to get a and beat.

Let assume, you did put all that drama and you did not get bad beat. the question is are you quitting after that hand?

Being over-dramatic on one hand shows weakness. When you play a poker game or a poker tournament. it is always what is the result at the end of the day that matters.

Most players that over-react on one hand will carry over the emotion the next hand,(win or lose).

2. You have an excuse every time you lost.

Someone once said “poker is a game where it takes a minute to learn but a lifetime to master”

That is true.

Since poker is a game that you are playing against other players. the game will keep evolving as the player keep growing.

But players would say, the opponent has a better bankroll, there are bots. The RNG system is broken and so on and so forth.

If you have a valid problem. then send a complaint. if the company does not take action. then there are other sites to play.

A lot of the time the real problem is the player himself.

Most players simply define their game on one hand. But in reality, he lost because of the multiple mistakes he had made in his game that he just got lucky and he lost because his luck ran out.

Players often times define their game as good or bad. depending they win or lose.

But the truth is, champions always review their game. Sometimes, you would even hear them say how badly they played the hand and they were just lucky to win.

2.Playing a tournament because you might hit the jackpot.

You simply don’t play poker hoping to win. you play poker believing you would win. working hard to win. studying hard to win.

there is no jackpot.

Tomorrow we would write about tips to maintain a winning attitude. stay safe poker playas!
