today we heard the great news that another Filipino has gained closer to reaching online international glory.

The battle was so close, but in the end, Vam finished only 4th place in one major SCOOP event.

Vam just recently finished fourth place in a SCOOP event(SCOOP Event -92-M) earning 300k USD in the process.

He did join the main event of the SCOOP(1,000 USD buy-in and 800k USD on top), a 5,900+ field with some of the best players of the world playing.

FInishing at an impressive place at 56th. Another side event he placed in a good position is in the 750k USD guaranteed. ending in 20th place.

Vam is also part of Metro Team pro and is currently number 17 at GPI PH. The number #1 in profit by country(Philippines) online 2021(as recorded by Sharkscope). but what else do we know about Vam?

Here is our quick interview.

How did you start playing poker?

After I graduated in college, I made a one year deal with my parents to let me pursue billiards being I also earn doing so, and if it doesn’t have a good outcome, I will look for a regular paying job. And then one time they where playing poker in a billiard table, they encouraged me to play.That’s where started.

What do you love about poker?

I really like numbers and math. And I also graduated as a Business Math major when I was in college. Poker has it all that I like: numbers, competition and of course the money.

During the pandemic, what kept you busy?

What kept me busy is playing poker online and of course, I have my family to keep me happy.

Who is your poker idol and why?

When I was starting, my first idol was Martin Corpuz. I saw him play during my first tournament and he was the champion in that competition. It was 2012 when I joined the competition, the PPT competition. I also idolize Marc Rivera not just in playing Poker but also on how he handles his winnings. As for the International Poker player, I idolize Phill Helmuth in terms of his achievements.

What do you think are the skills that poker players should have?

In my opinion, one should consider discipline, focus, hard work, willing to accept failures, and to learn something everyday.

What is your advice to people who wants to play poker?

If new players wants to succeed, they should love the game, love the fundamentals of Poker, do not give up, and remember that gambling has its limitation.

Do you prefer live or online poker?

I prefer both. As a Poker player, you should learn how to adjust. For the reason that we do not know what will happen tomorrow. Just like what’s happening today, we weren’t able to have a live Poker game because of the pandemic. That way, we do not have a choice but to play online.

What is your current goal?

My main goal in life is to give my family a better life and and to secure their future. I want to give them safety and fulfill their needs.

Did you learn something during the pandemic and what is it?

The pandemic taught me that, It may sound cliché, life is too short. Share your blessings.

Do you have any messages to other players out there?

What ever you want in life. You have to keep in mind that you can’t win it overnight. It takes days, months of sleepless nights. You need to learn how to achieve it by giving effort and perseverance. You have to love what you are doing. And trust that that one day, you will succeed.
