Poker has been in Manila for more than a decade. Some players started playing online poker first before legal poker rooms were born. Some were playing inside their houses with friends and families
When finally the government allowed poker houses to operate legally, slowly poker houses pop up but it was a slow growth. Poker was associated negatively with gambling. but slowly players were attracted to the game.
But slowly the market grew, more and more players started playing.
As more players started playing live games, players started forming groups to hang out and play with. Exchanging views and information about the game and sharing ideas, a camaraderie.
And in those meetings or events of poker group or events is where Alvir shine and became known. He was ahead in terms of understanding the dynamics of the game. He was a good player but he was not greedy. He would share his insights and knowledge with everyone.
He became a guide to a lot of new players.
He also became a father which is now a source of his new inspiration.
