Jaimar Quevedo – the vissionary
How were you introduce to poker?
Nag start ako playing poker with don Vito or Mr. Antonio he is the one who encourages me to learn how to play poker. I started playing the home games since there was no official poker room yet. I played with a lot of players back then like Sombrero or Neil Arce and Marc Rivera. When poker was finally legal, I was playing in the poker room in PAGCOR casino in Paranaque. There I met Jay Lubas, Dennis Napule, Mark Pagsuyuin, and others who have become my best friend until today.
Later on, you were already managing a room, right?
Yes, I was hired by one poker room along Southsuper highway in Manila by owner Ryan Cruz with 2,500/night as a house player for only 4 hours. Then I got an offer to come to Malate poker sports club. The new owners wanted to hire my services as Operation Manager. Then next is buying the Greenview poker club in Antipolo with my 3 partners the first year was good but unfortunately, the place is catch basin, and the building located beside the creek. The poker room was forced to shut down in mid-2015.

What are you currently doing now?
Right now, I am in South America as I have some business venture here.
Can you tell us what you are working now?
For now, I really can not say as there are things that we are working on. We hope to finally announced it after 3 months and definitely I want to also be active online to built a new online poker club.
Being part of the old generation, what do you think about the market?
I believe the market can still grow. all it need are quality products if its online. The market has a lot of room to grow. hopefully i can be part of helping it grow again as everything is now online.
Do you have any plans for online poker?
I want to build a club at Upoker and promote more freerolls there. I believe that Filipinos are talented but do not have the chance to show thier skills. hopefully I can built it up and get Upoker backing. With my years of experience. I know I can help them tap the market.
Do you have anything to say to the people reading this?
Poker is just a game. it can be a part of your life but at the same time you also have to look out for other opportunites. The world is big and we have a lot to learn and grow.
