Manila Poker Rooms are starting their test runs
Publish date: January 15, 2021

Good news to all poker players in Manila, Poker houses in Manila are starting their test runs.

Currently, there is only one poker room in Manila. but that is all about to change soon.

Pokerstars Live Manila

For more than a month, Pokerstars Live Manila enjoyed its status as the only poker room in Manila that was legally open.

They officially re-open their doors on December 8, 2020.

With a bad beat jackpot at more than 7.5 million pesos and the only poker room allowed to operate with six players.

Players flocked the room.

But like all casinos, who often would only allocate limited dealers. Hence, Pokerstars favored higher blinds. There were days that players have to wait for more than an hour to play 25/50 blinds.

If there are seven players on the waiting list on the 50/100, and more than 14 players on the 25-50 waiting list, The 50/100 will be the priority.

But this is due to Limited dealers.

Casual players or new players that prefer lower blinds were having difficulties.

Other poker houses begin test runs.

Some poker houses are starting their test runs.

Note: There is no fixed definition of the difference between poker houses and rooms. However, as a reference to avoid confusion.

Poker rooms – are poker establishments that are inside the casinos.
Poker Houses – are poker establishments outside the casinos.

There are differences between the two that affect the operations. Establishments inside casinos share their profits with casinos and are subject to the rules and regulations of the casinos.

The poker house in Malate

Only limited players are invited and are subjected to quarantine measures.

Last night we have visited a poker house in Malate that claims that players must be subjected to a swab test before they enter.

Which is already a bad sign.

Swab test generally takes 24-48 hours to get the results. You can also get a test a few days ago but be exposed yesterday.

A test does not make you immune to the virus.

The best weapon against the virus is education. We have no idea what other safety measures are implemented in that room and we can not recommend any players to visit it for now.

Other poker houses

There are poker houses that have unofficially closed their doors permanently. Those we believe will re-open are conducting trial runs on a limited capacity or are awaiting for IATF go signal to officially run.

The Philippines love doing things in a runabout way due to maybe fear of public outcry.

However, it is better to have things in public and announced what are the safety protocols for the safety of the public.

It is still a good news to the industry

The fact there are forward movements is a sign that things can slowly return. It will still take time.

Times are changing and houses that remain to do things the runabout ways will fail.

Local governement stepping up

The beauty of the Philippines is that local governments are stepping up. While the national government pushes for the vaccine made in China.

Mayors of different cities are stepping up their effort to secure other vaccines for their people.

The local government of the Philippines and business leaders have done an exceptional job in stepping up.

The Philippines will be on track to recovery soon.

Be patient and stay safe. We too hope to see you soon on the poker felt.

But until then stay safe poker playas!
